I did it! Good morning 30 something people! Its Monday  and I hate to see the weekend go. Lets shake off the Monday blues and move forward. Have a good day!0

Well its a rainy and dreary monday up in my neck of the woods, unusual around here as we don't get much rain. Should make for a nice long commute (people in Colorado freak out when it rains, but drive like maniacs in the snow, totally illogical). I'm taking a rest day today as I am really sore from doing so much cardio this weekend. Blah weather always makes me want to eat so I'm going to try not to get too out of control today.
My saturday run went really well and I'm feeling more hopeful about actually being able to pull off the time I signed for in the 10K I'm doing on memorial day (72 minutes). I need to up my run distance though, I've only been doing 4.5 miles. I won't be able to run the whole thing this year but I usually average a 10.5 to 11 minute mile between walking and running. Of course my friend I'm running with also has to keep up and that may be more of a battle.....she was really not liking the time I wanted to sign us up for but last year we kept pace together just fine so I'm hoping for the best!
Hope everyone's week is off to a good start!0 -
Happy Monday!
I won't be able to run today at lunch because I have to take care of some ballet costume drama for my daughter. :ohwell: I'll have to go T, Th, Sa. Yesterday was kind of a wreck eating with a birthday party (and they sent us home with leftovers). But I'm back on track today.
Ellie - how long have you been running? I'm thinking of signing up for a 5 mile race in August, and perhaps a 10k down the line, but I'm not sure how far down the line I will get to that distance. Good luck! I'm sure you can do it!
I forgot my lunch in the fridge this morning (despite grabbing the kids') and my wonderful hubby noticed and grabbed it for me - he works right next door so it was eay to grab. Phew, that could have been a disaster!0 -
Morning all - I had a restless night and was really grumpy this morning. Todd's technigue for dealing with grumpy wife? "Poke it with a stick and see just how much more we can aggravate it!" He's a pill. Still somewhat giddy from his successful game day, I imagine.
I officially completed stage 1 of NROL4W yesterday morning before we went to the game so now I'm supposed to "rest" for a week. I prefer the lifting to the treadmill, but I also want to follow "the rules" (mostly). I figure I'll start stage 2 Friday or Saturday . . . I think that'll be plenty of rest. In the mean time, I suppose I will get back on the C25K horse tonight. Then maybe I can be brave and sign up for a race/run sometime in the future like you guys!
Hope everyone has a fabulous Monday!!0 -
I found my missing HRM everyone's days may proceed now :drinker: :drinker: :drinker:
*Sorry had to be silly...I have been missing it since Thursday and have been oh so insane about not having it! My OCD was in full gear about it.0 -
Hiya folks, hope everybody is having a good Monday. I've had a rotten day i'll be honest. Very early start and lots of hard work and a very annoying boss make Paul a grumpy guy (susieQ i feel your pain). It's a holiday here so most of the rest of the country had the day off while I did a good 11 hours of hard labour. There was hardly any time to eat lunch so I'm not very rested. The old me would have hit the comfort foods. But new me is going to take a bubble bath and put some music on before i make some dinner.
Have a good day guys0 -
Paul I hope that bubble bath soothes you...stay in there alittle while longer for me too and Susan too
Hope your day gets better after you get the bath and a good meal!0 -

Aww, thank you Carrie, you've just restored my faith in humanity a little :-). Thanks so much,0 -
Oh 30s. I am so exhausted. I barely barely made it through our hike yesterday. It is pretty clear now that I was horribly dehydrated. I won't go into details but super dehydrated. :noway:
The scale said I am up 4lbs!! Stupid scale. I am not buying that. I'll check back in on Thursday see what it says. Maybe I should weigh in on Saturday and Thursday since post hike days seem to be so wacky? Thoughts?
Today I am going to rest and drink lot's of liquids. Try to meal plan for the week ahead. Today was supposed to be a lifting day, but I am just not sure I have it in me today. Maybe if there is a nap and more water, I'll get there.
Ok, off to set up the challenge!
Later,
Sara Grace0 -
SG - am I remembering correctly that you just increased your calories? It's probably that coupled with some water retention from the hike.0

Well i jumped... leap of faith.
My wife (who it would appear i was pestering a little too much this morning) has been going to a gym near(ish) to our house. They opened up another locating near where i work. Due to our schedules etc. lunch is better for me to go to the gym, after work better for her. So i walked in, didn't even look around, just signed up, changed clothes and started running.
What i failed to do was:
1. Remember to bring in my phone with my C25K app
2. Notice they did not offer towels to use after i shower
3. Take the tour
4. Schedule a fitness assessment
I didn't want anything to distract me from getting started. Head down, blinders on, run Bishop run...
I will be reading my NROLFM tonight and tomorrow night. I need to get this body stronger before i go pounding these knees into the treadmill for any length of time.
Honey, sorry to be such a pest this morning, i thought you were just playing mad.
Paul, I hope that tomorrow is better.
SG, Hang in there.
Everyone, pick up your crap at your office. These pickles are "best by Jan 7, 2010"0 -
Debbie - I did just up my calories. So we shall see. I am expecting small gains and after being so dehydrated yesterday it is pretty likely I am hold on to a lot of water. Thanks for the reminder. Despite all that knowledge, I did want to pick up the scale and shake it, screaming "What is wrong with you!!" Luckily, I am too tired to muster too much emotion about it today. I promise not to google any fad diets. :-)
Carrie - I am so glad you found your HRM! I always get so upset when I forget mine or can't find it.
Paul - Proud of you for making smart decisions even on a hard day. You are a consistent source of inspiration.
Everyone - This week's challenge is up! We did really well last week. I am sure I made some reporting errors though, so (gently) let me know what needs to be corrected.
Best,
SG0 -
Wow, thanks so much. You guys have been so good to me and i am hugely grateful for your kind words and encouragement. I feel that i'm in a good place mentally these days and as work is at the moment I need to be. This week will be a struggle but with you guys to vent my feelings to i'm confident i'll stay on the right path0

LOL...that's so true! I'm in Colorado also
I just joined this group today and like how much conversation there is between everyone. My Monday has been good, even with the crappy weather today but we do need the rain. Today was the first class of a women's training group and I was inspired by a 72 year old lady that was in great shape. She had so much muscle definition in her arms and abs! My grandmother is 72 and I never thought she could look that good. If this lady can workout and be healthy then why can't I? Oh that's right, I like junk food and t.v., which is the reason I'm trying to get back in shape.0 -
The bit about people driving in Colorado was supposed to be quoted properly from Ellie78's post. Doing this on my smartphone apparently has limitations.0

Welcome WhiteCloud! (Do you want to go by WhiteCloud or do you have another nickname you'd like to be known by?) What does your women's training group entail? Mostly lifting? I want to be a super buff, fabulous 72 year old someday... :-)0

Debbie, I've been running seriously since around February last year, but I've always been pretty sporty and ran quite a bit in my younger years. I started running because I couldn't afford my gym membership and it was the only way I felt like I was getting a good workout. I dove right in and signed up for the 10K straight off the bat (same one I'm doing this year, the Bolder Boulder). With that goal in place I was able to make pretty good progress and was able to run an entire 10K distance when it came down to race time averaging about a 10.5 minute mile. As a funny side note, I figured out that if I ran from my apartment to the strip club at the end of town and back it was almost exactly a 10K, made an easy landmark to find I don't' live there anymore, though, so I have to find a new route. Now when it came to actually running the race I ended up giving up on my training and moving back to a slower bracket to run with friends so our times did not end up so good. I think without having it as a goal I never would have tried to improve to that, I'm all for just jumping in! What's the worst that can happen? We end up walking like most everyone else does at some point too!0

My name in real life is Amanda
The ladies class is 30 minutes of group training doing whatever the trainer has in mind. Today was some strength and core training on the stability ball. I signed up for this class because it is too expensive to keep going with individual training with a trainer, although the ten weeks I had with a trainer were awesome. I will be doing cardio before the class and maybe more strength training afterwards.0
