Hi all! I'm Lin, and I'm new to this group. Seven weeks ago I had my RNY and I'm feeling great! I'm starting to exercise - a feat I would have NEVER done before!! I'm getting used to eating and while I'm having trouble getting the proteins in, I'm doing ok!

I had the lapband done in 2009 and it didn't work for me, so I had it removed when I had the RNY. I'm looking forward to participating with you all!!!

welcome, it's always nice to see a new and friendly face. I'm having the RNY done on the 15th and looking forward to a quick recovery so I can get back to my water exercising.

Welcome! I had RNY 7/28/11 and so happy I did it! Wish I had done it sooner. Life is so much better when you're healthy, strong, and able to move.

Actually I'm new to this group myself but I had the RNY done in March 2002. It's hard to believe it's been ten years already. I initially lost 112pds and have been very successful in keeping it off. I still need to lose 80pds to get to my goal weight and that is why I joined MFP. I wish you luck with your post op. I know you'll do great! Friend me if you'd like.

Doing pretty well today!!!! I am down another 1.5 pounds breaking that 250 barrier -- now 248! I cannot remember when I was 248! Still having problems with chicken but that's ok. I'll be fine!

PS -- it's so nice to meet you all!!! :flowerforyou:

Yay for you Lin... great to break some of those barriers, even if they are only barriers in our own minds. I busted through 200 about a month or so ago and I don't weigh in again until the end of June at my next appt. I don't have a scale at home, nor have I had for years. My sister, who is also trying to lose weight and does have a scale, tells me she's on the scale many times during the day. We laughed together over judging the weight of our bowel movements... "Yup, that looks like a pound of butter... lol".

I find it better to feel the difference in my clothes, I'm into my "skinny pants" (which really aren't that skinny, but the smallest I have in the closet), and also into a suit and some dresses I haven't worn in years. So don't despair if the scale doesn't move, sometimes the scale doesn't reflect what is actually going on with your body.

    Keep up the great work!

Pamela, nice to meet you!!! I don't have any 'skinny' clothes yet. But lord knows I can turn around in what I have! LOL I only weigh myself usually once a week, but there are some times you just know you've lost weight, and so that is what happened to me today...

Thanks for your support, and let's keep in touch!

    Lin

I am about 2 months from having the RYN. I am so excited I can hardly wait. Were any of you snackers? If so did you have any issues after the surgery with cravings or "in your head" hungry?

I am 10 weeks post op and life post RNY is wonderful. Lin, breaking barriers is terrific. I set little mental barriers all the time. My next one is "Onederland".

Drmcclish - good luck on your upcoming surgery. Not only was I a snacker, I was a compulsive overeater doing a lot of binging. by 4 weeks post op, the cravings were gone. The head hungry can still appear, but it is so much easier to talk her down. My advice from my Dr. is only eat when physically hungry and try to limit to no more than 3 times per day. Just an aside, fear is a powerful motivator. The negative effects of overeating and too much sugar are unpleasant and the fear of the nasty side effects keep me honest.

I found this past week that my snacking is still a problem - especially around 9:30 p.m. I'm great during the day, but it's night that is hard. I got a couple of books on this to read when the head hunger hits. If you would like I'll post the titles!!

We all have this happen... hang in there!!

I had my RNY in 2008. I was a big snacker pre-op. I've never lost my "hunger". I still eat 6-7 times a day, but my snacks are scheduled. I do not allow myself to "graze". This has kept me successful and at or under goal.
