Mother's Day

What do you do for Mother's day? What is your idea of the perfect Mother's Day?

For me the perfect Mother's day is getting to laze around reading a book, while other people cook, clean and generally run around after me for a change. If this could happen on some tropical island would of course be the ultimate, but just at home will do me fine.

My kids insist on buying me a present (used to be chockies and a book to enjoy the day with) but now that I don't eat chocolates very often they tend to buy me stuff that I consider too expensive for Mother's day. I think Mother's day should be more about appreciation than about gifts - anyone else feel the same?

i agree- i think mums day should be about family time and being nice. the best gifts i could get are pics my kids have drawn for me, kisses and cuddles, and no arguing. i don't want stuff. i just want qualtiy time with them!

but i wouldn't say no to a child free tropical break and the occassional lie in.
  • I agree. Nothing beats a relaxing day, being able to read a book, soak in the bath and have cuddles with the kids without any of that other stuff that gets in the way eg: housework, cooking, settling arguments with the kids etc. So a day of not having to lift a finger and lots of love from my family is the ultimate Mother's Day for me.

So how did your Mother's Days end up ladies?

I totally agree about not having to do anything and getting some peace so my day turned out really well. My boy insisted Daddy make porridge rather than bacon & eggs because he knows I'm trying to loose weight AND I got a subscription to Healthy Good Guide rather than chocolates.

Hope you all had lovely days.

We have a rule that we don't buy gifts for Mothers/Fathers day and that we spend the day together and go and have a nice family dinner/lunch in a restaurant somewhere. It is something I really look forward to and the kids still get to bring me a card in bed in the morning and help plan our day.
  • My day was really nice, lots of love and cuddles from the kids, Hubby cooked breakfast and dinner! I got some perfume and a new book, and even some time to start reading it! So all-in-all a very good day. So nice to be a little bit pampered, as Mums we are so used to looking after everyone else so its nice to be looked after for a change :)
