Hello all!

My name is Jackie. I am new to My Fitness Pal and I have to say I love it!!!!

I recently canceled Weight Watchers Online for financial reasons. I liked it as it kept me on track (I have lost 21lbs since Feb 2012) but My Fitness Pal seems to do all the same stuff for FREE!

Anyway -- I look forward to interacting with my new e-friends here in My Fitness Pal as I am a big fan of networking, accountability and support.

Hi! I just cancelled WW too! I couldn't get my head around points and couldn't figure out my exercise calories vs. daily calories and lost NO weight at all. Now I'm back to MFP, where I was able to lose about five pounds last time around so I think I will stick around here for a while!

    Hello!
I just cancelled Weight Watchers Online also...just couldn't get into it and calories seems so much easier to work with than those silly points! I also like how My Fitness Pal shows you what you would weigh in 5 weeks if you do exactly what you did today, every day..really is helping me to see a light at the end of the tunnel...I just turned 46 and I know losing this weight will be a boost to my ego. Any ladies, who would like to add me as a friend, so we can keep encouraging each other, I would love it!

Welcome. I have done WW countless times over the years. It worked the times I followed the plan. I finally figured out that having what I wanted within point range didn't work for me. So, I am doing some other things now. Glad you are here.

Just joined myself, but have been losing weight for about 2 years now. At 45 lbs lost, which as I say it sounds pretty amazing for someone who was not actively trying for most of that time. The last 18 lbs I have actively tracked my calories, but the rest I did not.

My parents did weight watchers when it first started, and many time through the years since, so I have seen many different variations on it. I have been using Fitday.com software since about 2003 (off and on) since I purchased it back then for my computer. It helps track my calories, so I continue using it mostly. I hate the idea of tracking points, so have resisted the urge to join weight watchers, especially since my mom always told me that to really succeed you had to go to the meetings. No better motivation than weighing yourself in front of others. I live in an area that doesn't have local meetings, so have simply been tracking calories on my own. The other issue was always how much they charge for their stuff, seems excessive when you can use the forums online and track your intake with websites like this.

MyFitnessPal is the first place I have seen where they actually talk about bmr and how to figure out the amount of calories you should consume in a day. I recently sat in on a consultation with my husband and a nurse/diabetic specialist at the local doc's office and had to choke when she told my 6' 3" and 280 lb husband that in order to lose weight he needed to lower his calorie intake to 1800! I had already lowered his diet to approximately 2300 calories a day and he's been dropping weight like crazy! According to his bmr his calorie reduction is at 500 to 600. He's lost another 20 lbs since that time.

Btw, you can add me too!

Feel free to add me. I am a lifetime member of WW. I had great success using them in the past. I've noticed with the last couple of plan changes that I don't see any results so I decided to try something different. I'm grateful for everything that I learned from WW but counting calories is so much easier and MFP is free!

    Hello all
    I am g
Ad to see I am not alone with wanting to lose weight but wanting to do it without weekly output of money. I certainly could use some friends along the way. I hope you will accept my requests. Have a great day!
