I just saw this on TV this morning......you use it to figure out how many calories you burn in a day, and how many you need to maintain, gain or lose weight:.....

    This is what I used to figure out my TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) and I customized my MFP calorie settings accordingly. I get the question "Why is your calorie allowance so high?" and this is why. It's set at 3,000 cals/day now, and it is almost time to lower it to around 2,800 in a couple of pounds.

    But it says "This equation will be very accurate in all but the very muscular (will under-estimate calorie needs) and the very fat (will over-estimate calorie needs).
