My journey

So March 25 I downloaded an app onto my iPod after reading several articles online about a running program that trains you to be a runner by using intervals. Although I never thought I would be a runner (I have used all the excuses) I decided to give it a whirl. On March 26 I completed W1D1 and thought I would die. I repeated several weeks, mainly weeks 2-4 and I went on vacation somewhere in the middle and used the hotel gym to run. I have battled through shin splints, painful runner's knee and horrible breathing techniques all the while with this looming date of June 9 hanging over my head. I am so proud to say that today is June 9 and I just ran my first official 5K race. It was a hard course with a lot of other runners to contend with and I was super nervous. I had a goal of completing the race in 35 minutes. Well even with all of the distractions, trouble breathing, and heat combined with humidity, I not only finished but I did it in 33:13 and finished 6 in my age group. I am officially a runner and for the first time I completed a goal that I never thought I could do. Philippians 4:13

That is awesome! I love hearing success stories. I just finished week 4 and I still feel like I'll never get there...

Thanks! You will totally get there! Once you do that first 20 min run, you will so surprise yourself!

Thanks for inspiring us! I've done Week 3 Day 1 today and hope I too can soon do a 5k (although I'm terrified of the 20min run day!!!)
