I had my VGS surgery on June 14th, and I am doing really well thus far. I do have a few events like the 4th of July, and work lunch meetings. What are some suggestions that you have for me or any other newbie?

I know that I am going to bring my own food, but any advice would be greatly appreciated. :)

What's VGS stand for? Different surgeries have different rules on what you can eat and when the 4th is only a bit over 2 weeks out from your surgery and if it's anything like the RNY gastric bypass you'll still be taking shakes, soups and yogurt in your lunches. Heck I'm 5 weeks out and my day normally is shake at home, greek yogurt breakfast at work, cottage cheese lunch at work, pinto beans or some other soft solid for dinner, If started chewing meat but it's hit and miss whether my tummy likes it or hates it so I always try it at dinner in case I get ill.

I always ate before hand and then would make a small plate of acceptable foods for my band and pretty much just push food around. Yes it's a waste of food but it was easier for me to do that than just keep declining anything to eat or drink. Good luck

Gastric sleeve surgery. :) I am going to be on liquids for most of the social things that are upcoming. Thanks for your suggestions.

My biggest suggestions for eating in public is to remember to eat stuff that you have already been eating successfully. I never try new foods away from home in case they are on my "gonna make me sick" list. I would much rather get sick at home :) Eat slowly and chew well. Just enjoy the social part more than the food part! Good luck!
