My mini goal is to go walking on my own today. I always wait for my love to come home to walk with him because I want the comfort of conversation and a pal. The only thing that has me blocked mentally is that mean dog at the corner that always tears after me. I love dogs, but his dog is scary. I live in the country and they just might find me bleeding in the woods....LOL. I just wish they would keep it under control. I carry my walking stick, but that is not going to stop him. I need to learn the deep baritone voice of "GO HOME!" I will do it! I have to do it! I CAN DO IT!

You can do it ~ make sure you hold the stick in a manner that it is between you & the dog, be stern with your "GO HOME" try hard not to show your fear. (They can sense that) Most importantly ask God for strength ~ He will help you face your fear. Worse comes to worse ~ turn around just before that house....at least you will get out there and try.

Good luck ~ message me when you get back!! :o)

You should get you a nice can of mace. Not the silly little cans women put in their purses but a real can of OC spray. The dogs looks at you funny, zap it. it wont do it again.

    Use some thing like this...

I have been working on morning trips to the gym. I am NOT a morning person but I feel fantastic when I manage to squeeze in a workout before work. I think I have found my trick; I put my alarm in the kitchen with a light on. This way I had to get up and walk halfway across the house to turn it off, it gave me time to wake up and realize what I was doing out of bed at the ungodly hour of 5 AM. I hit the gym by 5:30 and did HIIT sprints on the treadmill for 23 minutes followed by 25 minutes of strength training including benchpress, squats, curls, lat pulldowns, back extensions, tricep dips, etc.

I had a whey protein smoothie and showered then headed off to work after dropping my son off at daycare. Let me tell ya, I feel AMAZING after hitting the gym this morning. This is my goal: Morning workouts 5 days a week and general outside activity on the weekends. (I have a 2 year old and a 5 year old so they keep me pretty active on the weekends)

I listen to K-love on my way to work too :) Keeps me positive! My mini-goal today is to get on the elliptical for 20 minutes come hell or high water. Today is my rest day since I run on M-W-F, but I want to remain active every day so an easy pace on the elliptical for 20 minutes while I watch some dumb chick flick should do the trick.

Another mini-goal for me today is to get to bed on time. I was doing well with it last week, but this week I'm dragging and I've noticed that I haven't been sticking with my bedtime as much. It makes such a difference to get up in the morning after a full night of sleep.

I am back safely! I did it! I walked by myself. I decided to start the walk with walking by the house of "the dog" and sure enough he came tearing out to the road near me and would not stop growling and barking until I passed the property. He is a great dane. I don't understand why people don't keep their dogs inside their property line so unable to terrorize neighbors. My heart rate shot up in a hurry and stayed up the entire walk. After I walked further down the road and around the curve he stopped barking and I began to relax and enjoy the beauty of the day. I beat my time walking by myself too! More walking and less talking...LOL...thanks all for the encouragement!

Thanks! My sister told me the same thing, but I don't want to hurt the dog. I may consider it or get a new route. It is just so convenient to walk around the block as it is a perfect 5K and I want to start running again so I have been working on improving my time.

I have been sprayed with OC spray hundreds of times! Never once have i had any side effects.. The dog will be fine. It will just teach him a lesson or three.

Before you think I'm a stalker, I used to be in the Army, while in one of my jobs was a Military Police Weapons Instructor. Part of the job was getting sprayed every so often by OC spray... It doesn't last very long, and it teaches a very hard learned lesson.

I don't always remember to pray but I talk to God throughout the day:) I didn't get a workout in today but I did a lot of walking because of errands. I count those times as well though and don't beat myself up if I don't get out for a power walk or bikeride:)

I am way excited about the challenge;)

I didn't see this till now, lol. But my mini goals yesterday and today were the same, to not eat the cookies as work and go to the gym. I didn't succeed yesterday with the cookies as I had two of them. Today I resisted!! And I did make it to the gym both days.

I totally agree about the mace. The dog's a great dane. You won't do any long lasting damage. Maybe some pepper spray instead if you're really worried about it. I wonder if a police whistle would deter him/her. Back to the spray though it's a good idea when you are out alone because you just never know what or who will chase you. Better to be safe than sorry.

My goal today was to make it through a long day at work (2 LONG meetings) and survive the 3.5 hour commute and make it home ro eat dinner and go for a walk. I accomplished all of it, so it was a small victory! I hope the scale rewards me!

Ok I am scared to ask....what is OC spray?

    OC Literally means: Oleoresin Capsicum

The cheaper Mace you can buy is (Like purse or keychain sized) is a 0.5% solution of OC, where as true OC spray, will be a foam not an aerosol spray, and its mix it somewhere closer to 5.5%

The higher percentage, the worse the burn... You want it to be foam because not only does it burn more, it stick to the targets face, since you are spraying towards the eyes, it will causes temporary blindness ( the targets eyes are literally covered over) not to mention burn like you shoved a hot poker in there... Besides a big time discomfort, it is non lethal, and does not cause any lasting damage.

    Also,

If you are afraid of accidental discharge, and maybe shooting yourself or someone you like with it, you can buy a can of Cool Down or Cool It ( I have seen it in both names) which is a neutralizing spray that negates the effects of the OC. and it is also a spray, so you just have them Stand facing you and shoot it on their affected areas.

My wife carries OC spray, i Highly recommend it.

I don't think you are a stalker..LOL. I appreciate your advice. I too was in the Military Police....how about that? We had drills for NBC training and got gassed and that was awful, but I don't remember the name of OC.....but I suppose it may have been. My fiance's son is in special forces and is back from his third tour in Afghanistan and is now temporarily at Fort Knox. What is it they say about six degrees of separation?

I spoke to my fiance about your advice and he agreed and he said he would go with me the next time I wanted to walk past the dog. In the meantime I changed my route to NOT go by the dog and I successfully walked by myself for the second day in a row. I will go for my third day in a row this morning after the work traffic thins out. It is a beautiful morning!
