Hey Guys,

So I got back from Yosemite. Man I was WAY WAY in over my head on this hike. I took lightly the effect of altitude on you.

My heart rate was north of 140 almost the entire time and I was lugging 25lbs of camera gear, water and food.

Anyways

9.7 miles
3245 calories burned
5 hours 15 minutes

The pics are large, so I had to post to the other site, so check them. They are in the second post. I apologize for the quality they are not edited yet.

    Fantastic. Well done Mike.

I've been to Yosemite once and it is definitely my favourite place EVER. Wish we lived closer ..... the same continent would do lol seeing your calorie burn makes me wonder what I burned whilst there! Will have to return with a HRM ;) no wonder I lost weight on that year's holiday - I really dragged to family round hehe

WTG Mike! I hiked in North Carolina last summer and noticed the altitude difference too. It is a good kind of sore when you have accomplished so much!
  • Well I did do a hike today so I thought I would share some pics.

MFP estimates ~850 calories for 90 minutes of hiking, uphills, carrying <10lbs. The hike took 2 hrs - stopped for photos and for a bit at the falls so I estimated 90 minutes of solid hiking.

    Elevation: 600 ft in 1-mile

    Cute arch way

160 ft Falls at the end with guns! LOL this one's for Mike.
