Day nine...doing great...but no appetite

OK, so this may seem like a really funny thing to complain about but I am on day nine here, the cravings and everything are gone, I am feeling great, finally sleeping great, but I literally have no appetite. Having a cobb salad at lunch today I was about 4 bites in before my gag reflex started to kick in to stop me swallowing. Has anybody else has this happen? Is this another way of my body trying to reject the low carb lifestyle? Again like I mentioned, I am not craving sugary foods, I am just not hungry.

I do get like that from time to time... I think it's the fact that your cravings are gone and so is the insulin/sugar roller coaster. Some studies have said that LCs lose weight because the higher fat helps satiate us more. But I am pretty new, too... So I could be wrong.

That happened to me, around the same time even. I was eating the same thing every day and one day just....blah. I haven't eaten raw veggies since.

You body isn't rejecting the LC lifestyle, your brain is just tired of the options you've presented as food. Time to check out new recipes and try things you haven't tried before.

I'm actually going through another swing of this right now, starting my 7th month doing LC. I'm not going to let it stop me forever nor am I going to let it make me run out and eat a bunch of bad foods. I'm going to power through it and figure out what I want to eat that is within my plan and know that eventually I'll be over it.

this is very typical. it's why dr. atkins said 'if you're hungry - eat, and if you're not - don't'

you will find your portions get a lot smaller.
  • Exactly where I am at the moment too, im ten days in and was sat here looking for some inspiration for tonights evening meal.

Chicken breast and salad i think ive settled for ;-)

I find that typical hunger pangs aren't there anymore. I don't "feel" hungry like I used to - but sometimes I know I need to eat, and when I start eating, realize I am really hungry!! I don't think your body is rejecting it - just adjusting!

Thanks everyone! I've actually been taking your suggestions and spending some time on the recipe boards now that I am in wave two and have some flexibility. This seems to be helping a lot, although I still think it will be a while before I try another cobb salad. I am truly burnt out on those.

We went out for wings today and I wanted to throw up after 8. For dinner I had to force myself to eat some pork and veggies.

Variety in your dishes is most certainly key.... Lets face it, there is only so much 'rabbit' food one can ingest and then you need something different... now!!!!!!!!!! lol

I often spend time making new seasoning rub blends at home to change things up.

I just committed some new ones the past couple of days actually.

I do alot of meal creating at home (I just cant give up my culinary background, I love it too much!) and my husband enjoys everything I make...

I do enjoy www.recipesource.com for recipes from other countries.... and then I change them to the way I need them to be.... Tried this Czech Meatball recipe once and OH MY GAWD it was awesome!!!!!!! Changed it a little bit to get more savory out of it and that made me a very happy girl! LOL!
  • Just wondering if its got any better for you recently, i found the key for me especially the last few days has been to have a small lunch, im generally hungry then come 6pm. Today I had a greek salad with some olives for lunch @12

I was starving when i got home this evening.
