Book recommendations

I have one more question and then I'm going to go buy a book.

What does it mean if T4 and T3 are normal, but the FREE t3 and T4 are low? I know that means that there is protein interference so there isn't as much usable hormone. But why does this happen?

And so that I can stop bothering everyone...any book recommendations to help me understand all of this?

Thanks!

    Hi Brooke

You might check out www.stopthethyroidmadness.com There is a load of information on that sight. Also, there is a book by the same name that you might want to purchase. I have to delve into STTM more as I wasn't aware that there was difference between the two.
    T4, T3 and Free T4 and Free T3.

All the best to both of us as we investigate this disease.

If you have hypothyroidism....check out Living Well With Hypothyroidism by Mary J. Shomon
  • Also interested in good book suggestions, leaning towards breaking it down and making it easy to understand for someone who needs things translated from medical jargon to everyday english.

I highly highly recommend The Metabolism Miracle book. I've achieved so much from this book. My endocrinologist says she is so impressed with my bloodwork, weight loss, and overall health to keep doing what I'm doing and that I'm a model patient. I'm finally halfway to my goal weight after almost twenty months. I'm running my first 5k this Sunday. Most of all it feels great to have a doctor tell me I'm have a HEALTHY BMI. I struggle with anxiety and depression but that's a work in progress.
Good luck to you and I hope you find this helpful.

P.s. I have hashimotos hypothyroidism and am on synthroid.
