Could use some opinions...

I have been on this journey toward weight loss surgery for quite some time now. I am on a Medicare supplemental plan and there have been several hoops. I originally wanted to get the vertical sleeve, however medicare would not approve vertical sleeve as a procedure. They have just changed their rules and will approve the vertical sleeve but not until October.

My question is, should I go ahead and get the gastric bypass so I can get the surgery done and over with or do you think it is worth waiting until October to be able to get the vertical sleeve?

If you are motivated to get it done now then i would suggest you do it now.I had the Gastric Sleeve in May of this year i was 491lbs now i'm am 414lbs i only wish that i would have gotten it done sooner
  • I have recently gotten a lapband and can understand the benefits of other procedures. Prior to my surgery, I went through a significant medical program to prepare for life after surgery and to change my habits before surgery. During that time, I lost 35 lbs. Now, I can say that my path to success began before surgical intervention. I own my success, not the surgeon. So, I would suggest if you want the sleeve to wait but to take this time to work on your habits and weight loss before going under the knife.

Do some research, but I think the sleeve has fewer complications and lifelong impacts. That would be work waiting for.
