5.1 A1C and off Meds!

I had my latest A1C done today, and it was 5.1, the same as it was in January of this year. Quite a difference from the 14.8 upon diagnosis in September of last year. My doctor felt that I was at a point where we should give this a go without medicine, so I am dropping my Metformin and trying to do this through diet and exercise alone. Exciting and a little bit scary at the same time. I did ask him about my body refusing to lose weight anymore even though I am doing all the right things, so I have a lab order to check my thyroid and testosterone levels to see if the problem lies there. All in all, a great visit. Very thankful for all the encouragement and support here on this forum.

You have done such an amazing job. You have lost weight and your A1C is about 1/3 what it was. Congratulations!

Yeah!! If you were only on Metformin, you may want to bump up your exercise sessions by 10/15 minutes more.

Great JOB. You are my hero. My goal is to be off in the next 6 to 8 months. My doctor has cut my dosage of Metformin and is telling me I headed in the right direction. MFP has been a big help with all the friends and encouragement from people on here.

Keep up the good work and good luck on being off meds. keep us posted on how it is going.
