What are your triggers that seem to make you flare up?
What helps you?
Me ~ white flour; sugar, processed carbs cause fatigue, pain, brain fog
fresh fruits & vegies and protein help
Vitamins ~ natural ones with no fillers help too

Fresh fruit and vegetable juice helps me. This is because the digestive system can become clogged up due to the body preserving energy so not flushing out the waste, but juicing is a way to clean out the system and get live nutrients circulating within 20 minutes.
I have been on a dairy free diet since 2005 because dairy has a negative impact on my digestive system. I won't go into the details!
Sugar is a biggie, too. I think it's partly to do with it being false energy so your energy bank is overdrawn after the sugar high, but also what goes up must come down, and the sugar crash makes the fatigue worse. Incidentally, the sugar high makes the body release insulin to bring the body back in line and insulin produces fat, so not good if you're trying to lose weight (and avoid Type II Diabetes) anyway.0 -
I agree! Just be careful to have your fruits alone. Don't mix them with proteins as they don't use the same digestive enzymes and you can get bloating and diarrhea, which in turn will give you more pain and fatigue. So have fruit for breakfast and move on to protein and vegis for lunch and dinner. Dairy is very hard on your body but Almond Milk is a good substitution if you just can't stay away from it. And grains are pretty unneccessary for a fibro body but if you do indulge try wheat-free and yeast-free products as these are the components that most people are either sensitive or allergic to. I'm allergic to both wheat and yeast so I eat rice crackers, basmati rice and brown rice pasta. They also sell great gluten-free products but be careful because they are still full of calories!0 -

Where do you get brown rice pasta from? I often avoid the gluten-free corn-based pastas because they tamper with the blood sugar, but this wonder product sounds more feasible!0 -

Actually most grocery stores carry it now including Loblaws. That's where I get it. You have to be pretty exact with the cooking because it loses any flavour if it's overcooked and can be kinda tough when undercooked but with a sauce and with meat of some kind mixed in it works great. My kids'll eat it so that tells you something!0 -
Been having a lot more pain the last few days and usually unless I've been overdoing it, it's food related. The only thing I can think of is I'm eating a lot of grapes. 3 cups of frozen ones last night. Has anyone heard of grapes reacting that way???0

not necessarily grapes alone but if you ate 3 cups of them last night that is equal to about 81 carbs in one setting and I have read up on alot of tips for fibro and alot have said to limit the amount of carbs and increase the protein. i am set for a 1200 cal diet thru MFP so entering the ratio the fibro sites suggested that allows me to have 90 carb in a whole day vrs 120g of protien in a day. Since I have limited my carbs & increased my protein I have felt better.
keep in mind ~ I aim for those settings & I still hurt; I am not perfect.....just feel better then I did ~ so I keep on doing it. Unfortunatly fibro is different in all of us so what works for me may not work for you but it is always good to share thoughts!!:flowerforyou:
