Hi guys,

I need help!! I have reached goal today and need to maintain for the next month, in the run up to my wedding day :-)

My macros are currently: Carbs 5%; Protein 35%; Fat 60%.

I have changed my setting on MP to maintain my current weight and they have put my cals up to 2059, with 27g carbs per day.

Can anyone advise if they thin this is a good idea for maintenance? I really don't want to put any weight back on or lose anymore.

Thanks
xx

i've never done LC into maintenance. i always get too comfortable and just slip back into my old eating habits.

on the other hand, my mom has done maintenance successfully, and she basically just ate low cal with ~100 grams of carbs a day. (diabetic diet basically)
i think your goals sound good though.

I would test the waters by adding an extra 5g of carbs for a week and see how your body responds. Then if you are still losing, add another 5g and so on....

Some people maintain on 50g, some on 100g- everyone is different. I have a long way to go until maintenance so cannot help you from experience. It may be good to read the maintenance section of the Atkins book?

Keep eating what works for you, but get your extra carbs from good sources like veggies, berries, nuts, dairy etc..

Good luck and I hope you have a fantastic wedding :o)

The most import thing about maintenance is to keep logging to your diary. Otherwise you don't really know what is happening, you lose focus and bad result eventualy follow. If we were the type of people who could do this on autopilot we never would have gotten into the mess we were in.

I am in maintenance, and feel free to add me if you like. I don't know about the numbers you gave, as they would depend on your height and possibly other factors. I completely ignore the recommended percentages of fats, carbs and proteins and input my own desired amounts. I found the calorie level on MVP was too low for me as I kept losing, so I boosted it a bit and now it seems to work OK. I log every day to keep track of what I eat and plan to continue to do so, since it works. No doubt I would probably eat too much if I didn't have that as a control.
