Hi all. I stopped running last year due to an injury - achilles tendonitis. I want to start running again. Do any of you have similar injuries and how have you adjusted your training?

I don't know how helpful I can be but I got all the way to Week 7 day 1 and ended up with some major hip pain. Googled it and got some recommendations and found a few things out: make sure you watch your stride - heel strikes can aggravate achilles tendonitis. I've rested, stretched, intensified weights and now I'm back up to running ~18 minutes per session.

Search reputable sites for stretches and treatment. Good luck!

I had a 'weak' knee (sorry, that's the best way I can describe it) from running many years ago. Actually thought I was done w/running, but I found some exercises via google and they seem to be working. Doing W6D2 in the morning. I'm still trying to be careful and run 'lightly', but I'm still in the game.

    Best of luck to you.

I recently started running but prior to starting I listened to the audio book CHI RUNNING . It is packed full of helpful info involving body mechanics and posture. He talks in depth about stride and cadence and gives verbal exercises for you to practice. I have found practicing the techniques very helpful ! He talks a lot about injury prevention .

Thanks for all the tips. I stretched yesterday before jogging. It seemed to help a bit. I will take a look into your suggestions.
