So I did the induction phase for 2 weeks and lost roughly 8 lbs. or so. Since then I've had 2 or 3 days where my carbs got up into the 50's, but none where I went totally overboard. Even after induction I usually only get around 15g of carbs per day on most days.
For the past week or so I haven't lost any weight and and I am working out (P90X) on top of doing the low carb diet. So my question is: is this a plateau that I just have to fight through or am I not doing something right.
Feel free to take a look at my diary and point me in the right direction if need be.

a lot of people stay on induction until they've lost the majority of their weight.0

i'd say stay away from the beer (drink vodka if you're gonna, it doesn't have carbs) but when you are drinking, your body will use the alcohol first, not fat.
stay away from chips/pretzels. they might knock you out of ketosis, they might not. YMMV ofc. i ate cheetos last night, and didn't get knocked out of ketosis! was pretty cool and exciting.. but i also gained 2 pounds overnight :P
some people say nuts and dairy stall them.
you're not ingesting fake sugar it seems, so i can't say get rid of that (unless you're not logging diet soda) but that could do it too.
some of the meats you have are processed, i don't know if that's why?
keep up with drinking water - you don't log it, but more is always better! perhaps too much protein, not enough fats?0 -
if you just started working out.. i think the inflammation of the muscles means you retain water.. so it might take a week or 2 to adjust.
ok that's all my ideas. next person!0 -
Also, if you're doing P90X it's a pretty intense weight training program so make sure to measure yourself & not just rely on the scale. A pound of muscle takes up much less space than a pound of fat so even though you may not be losing actual pounds your body could be shrinking.0

I actually completed the final day of P90X this past Saturday, but only started eating low carb since the beginning of July.
I don't really drink much diet soda at all. I might have a Diet Ginger Ale from time to time, but the majority of what I drink is good ole H2O (even though I don't log it).
I try to stay away from all chips and pretzels but after the 2 weeks of no snacks I was craving something. I gave in to the urge and had some higher carb snacks .
Basically it sounds like I'm just going to have to stay in the induction zone until I get down to a weight that is more in my target range. I appreciate the responses!0 -
@Dustinsmith10- Another thing I've found is that in induction- your body will drop weight fast in the first week then there is a couple of weeks 'adjustment' before resuming a slower more steady loss.
Myself for example: The first time i tried induction I dropped 12lbs in my first week... then nothing for 2 weeks, then a steadier loss of 1-3 pounds per week after. I plan to stick to <30g carbs until I'm about 10lbs from my goal weight.0 -

Pork rinds are a low-carb snackers friend! It still gets me the salty, crunchy goodness.
Also, just browsing through your diary, I noticed you are kind of low on calories? Especially being a guy and working out, you need more calories. (even if you were female, I'd probably say this, too!)0 -
I would say I could probably eat more, but for me it's hard to eat a lot of calories and stay under the carb count. Plus I'm just not that hungry anymore.0
