has anyone done the testerone transformation workout from mens health? i started it a few weeks ago thinking it would be a good place to start bulking up. i have seen some changes (1/2" in upper arms). just wondering if anybody has experience with this workout or could suggest a new one.
also when i started working out and dieting my original goal was to lose about 15 lbs. i am 10 lbs away from that but now whats more important to me than the number on the scale is my body fat % which is currently 11.5%. i would like to be under 6%. any tips on lowering body fat % would be greatly appreciated.

1. Your best bet is to get on a proven routine that has stood the test of time, rather than trying something that sounds new and exciting.
2. I goggled "testosterone transformation workout" and it sounds like a bunch of stupid bull****.
3. You're not going to get to 6% bodyfat. Even if you do, you're not gonna be happy that you did. Even if you were happy, you're not going to hold that condition for very long.0 -

The only testosterone transformation you'll do in your life is when you inject it. You have a good base to start building muscle now. Rock is totally right about the workout being bullish*t, and getting to 6% body fat on just diet and cardio alone. The people who are able to stay on this lower percentage of at are bodybuilders with the aid of low level stimulants, or higher risk stimulants. Focus on building your muscle first, and worry about having low bf later.
It all starts with the basics that have been proven for quite some time. A protein high in diet (, high in clean carbs, and with rich healthy fats. Calories will depend on your weight of course.
A good workout routine will compliment your nutrition. That is another subject that we can perhaps discuss unless you have a particular workout. Weight lifting is there to provide you strength conditioning, and muscle stimulation which leads to good results if you are willing to work hard for them.0 -
Patience, consistency, and actually knowing exactly what kind of physique as well as the proper training to obtain that physique and then tweaking diet along the way...took me a decade to figure out what I really wanted and how to get it. Do some specific research on the type of physique you want0

all of this.
mens health is full of garbage "information"
6% bodyfat is very hard to achieve naturally
There's very little you can do to raise your test levels, other than taking anabolics/androgens0 -

Good points, to add more points to the whole test subject.
Testosterone is not something to worry about while lifting or dieting unless you are in your late 30's with issues that related to testosterone deficiency. Your natural body will do the best that it can with your muscle growth and your nutrition. Focus on that to be honest with you.
Testosterone pills, pro hormones, pre hormones, and everything else that is sold is full of garbage. The most legal alternatives to legal hormones have been banned mostly and they all had the same side effects as using juice, and were basically precursors of testosterone. In other words only a small percentage converted to testosterone which has been found to be very minuscule.0 -

I'd actually go as far as to say that small doses of anabolics would be safer than the pro hormones and designer steroids.
Oral steroids are really harsh on the liver. Low doses of things like test prop, test e, or test cypionate would be much safer.
OP, just focus on lifting heavy and eating big. Spend a good 5 years under the bar THEN consider things that change your test levels. No one can say they have a test deficiency if they've only lifted for a year or two.0 -

Hell, at least the illegal stuff has supporting research and you know what you're getting into, no telling what this new stuff will do to you over the long haul.0 -

I was just pre warning the poster about going that route basically since it yields no benefits and nothing replaces the real thing of course. Either how there are forums out there to discuss gear usage and is best to stick to the basic fundamentals in this forum. It is highly unlikely that he is deficient in testosterone based on his age. Hell a doctor won't test for low testosterone levels unless he goes to the doctor himself to report signs of testosterone deficiency. There are not a lot of things out there that influence testosterone directly even working out. Everyone produces a specific amount of natural testosterone. The reason why people recommend others to workout for 5 years is to reach their natural plateau.0 -

Most of the research that was started on Athletes was decades ago when the German Synthesize Test in the 1930's, and the Soviets administered it heavily to their athletes. The Soviet Athletes dominated that decade juiced up basically. When the Soviets stopped dominating the U.S went to dominate because U.S Olympic Physician developed d-bol. Funny thing is that the research studies from that time were really false stating that it had no effect on athletes at all, and Olympic weight lifters didn't give a damn and still took them. Anyways the Germans dominated for a long time up until the Internal Olympic Committee started testing in 1979 I believe. Either how all of the research about steroids use on athletes have always come from Germany as they hold the largest studies on them. Their research goes up to probably the 90's up until the Olympic team was caught cheating, an embarrassment for Germany. We are looking about 50-55 years of research on athletes solely by Germany that was done privately and not publicly.0 -
I agree this forum should be kept clean from bs about topics that attract wannabe internet guru's. I will add, however, many of my clients (just like "natural" bodybuilding competitors) have implemented legal anti-aging programs with great results per my recommendation. I have many men and women I have a tough time getting results with get their blood work done at their doctor by complaining of sexual disfunction and low energy. Most of my guys come back with testosterone in the 300-400mg/dl range. While a man can still achieve an erection at that level, it makes it very hard to build muscle and burn fat. The general practitioners learned in med school a long time ago not to manipulate hormones at all unless they are outside the "normal" bogus range. It is, however ok to give 14 year old girls steroids if it will keep them from getting pregnant. We call this, "birth control." (although estrogen is responsible for most neg sides anyway)
The point is, my anti-aging guy is legally helping my clients that can afford it, an awesome opportunity to elevate their GH, test, control estro, boost thyroid, etc.. It's awesome. These people are getting healthier and leaner, and are not competing in any sports, so the stupid "cheating" stuff people say can disappear. People that let their hormones fall off and get out of whack are cheating themselves out of good health.. Just thought i'd add.0 -

Anti-Aging clinics are the best legal way to get gear if you got money. You know what happens, I'm sure you do but for those who don't, a real Doctor speaks with you and does all this crap and explains to you whatever he wants to explain to you. He sends you to get tested and then he goes over the results with you and basically tells you that your testosterone is low even though it is not low. He knows he is bullsh*tting and most people who visit the clinic knows he is and come to a mutual agreement. There are no real guidelines at this moment about what testosterone levels are considered low at this moment so it is legal for him to prescribe you testosterone based on the fact that he considered your levels "low". Anyways the fee for speaking to a guy like this could go toward getting it illegally since they charge a lot of money to consult with them.
I have really good insurance for health but with the way our healthcare laws are changing I'm adamant of my own insurance knowing that I am taking testosterone at my age. Never reveal to a Doctor unless you trust him to death that you are putting anything like this in your body since they are required to report certain aspects of ones health. If its legal then I don't know if there is a difference.0 -
hey guys. thanks for all the tips. just to clear things up, im doing the workout routine because it seemed like a good start to lifting. i know there is nothing wrong with my testerone levels. im still young and healthy and everything is working fine. i might just be impatient but i want to see more results from my workouts than i am currently seeing.0

Absolutely! I'm the same age, and I feel great too. Always hit legs, and lift everything as heavy as you can with good form. Total work done and metabolism from maintaining muscle burns fat, which is why runners and cardio people are usually just skinny-fat..
BTW, nobody was saying you have low test.. I will say however men these days have lower mean testosterone levels than people in our grandfathers generations and past. There are studies done. I mentioned earlier many of my clients were still functioning sexually, and felt ok. Some guys in their 30's only and still came back with blood work showing test levels on the bottom end of the scale. (range is usually between 300 and 1200) The people you know that are always lean and eat whatever they want are closer to the 1200 mark, I can almost guarantee.
Anyways kudos to taking the initiative to start living a better lifestyle as your profile states. Best of luck, let us know here if we can continue to help.0
