I did not find any thyroid cancer groups on MFP and thought I would start one to help us thyroid challenged or thyroid absent people. It seems to be a disease that is just hitting the scene but it can still be a lonely place. I could use more active support in my "new normal." A little about me, I had my thyroidectomy in…
A little nervous about tomorrow's appointment with endocrinogist to find out results from a six year followup for Huerthle cell thyroid cancer. I feel great. I have love 39 pounds since my surgery in 2012. My levels have been below the optimum number to suppress the cancer. I have my fingers crossed.
Some background: I was able to lose about 50+ lbs then found out I was preg. That was about 2 yrs ago I took the first year off of worrying about weight due to having an infant. I have been back since January but have been sidetracked several times. In March I went to my Endo for yearly checkup and he lowered my synthroid.…
Hay folks. It's been two years since my total thyroidectomy, 1 1/2 years since the RAI, and they have now found a nodule at my most recent ultrasound. Next up, biopsy. How many of you guys have had post-surgical nodules? Was it cancerous again?
Anyone going through significant Hair loss? I'm going through a terrible shedding phase (on my 5th month). I'm trying to figure out if it's a dose adjustment, vitamin defencicy, PCOS or something else. My Synthroid was adjusted late Nov and hair starting falling out late Dec. It’s not a normal shed. This is not the first…
So, like everyone else I've been dealing with a lot since my thyroidectomy. I had my surgery in August 2012. Mid summer 2 years ago I started having trouble breathing, horrible leg swelling, puffy hands and feet anytime I did any type of exercise. So, i stopped walking. My eating stayed the same (not good not bad) and I…
Hi folks, I thought I'd post what I've learned in the last few months. I had a 6cm nodule on my thyroid, diagnosed in 2012. Surgery followed diagnosis, ablation (radioactive iodine) followed about 6 months after that. I settled in to my life on meds and an ultrasound every 6 months. In 2014, my TSH levels creeped up a tiny…
This summer, my doctor is trying to adjust my Levo medicine. She says it is still too high. It has gone from 125 mcg to 100 mcg to 88 mcg currently. I will be retested in four more weeks. I am wondering how low you can go! I have Hurthle cell thyroid cancer. Any thoughts on this?
This isn't a new subject but I just realized that I have been eating one hour after taking my levo pill and just saw the "wait four hours before ingesting any calcium or iron products" on the label. How do others handle breakfast? A slice of bread, milk, or peanut butter contain only 2% calcium/iron. Should I take the levo…
Hello My name is Rebecca, I am 38 years old. I have three kids and a loving husband. I am excited to find this group and hope to get to know each of you as we go through this journey together. I have not been quite diagnosed yet. ct scan showed a cyst so they did a ultra sound and not only did that cyst grow but more cysts…
