I started IF about three weeks into keto and I think it helped avoid the normal stall after the first few weeks of water loss. My version of IF is only eating from noon-8pm (because we usually eat a late dinner). I'm not big on coffee, so I only drink water from waking-noon. I find that this allows me to eat bigger meals…

Have you tried drinking your calories/food? You can make a super fatty milkshake using whipping cream instead of milk and protein powder (watch the carbs in the protein powder, and you can use a sugar substitute to sweeten it if you need to), and maybe that would be easier for you to down because there's no chewing…

You have to make sure to drink LOTS of water on this diet! The recommendations I've seen have been at least 100oz per day, but I try to do 128-160oz per day. Apparently your risk of kidney stones increases if you're not properly hydrated, and anecdotally, most people notice that they lose more and feel better the more…

Hi TrophyWife, welcome to Keto! I also struggled with getting enough fat in the beginning, but it just takes a little bit of time to learn what you can and can not eat. Get a big jar of coconut oil (use a refined if you don't like the coconut flavor), and cook EVERYTHING in it! Since you are already used to drinking…

Thanks @deansdad101 - I'll be sure to watch it!

I've been reading up on intermittent fasting and how it has numerous health benefits and can also help break you out of a plateau. I don't know if it has worked for anyone else in the group, but it's worth looking into.

I've only been doing keto for three weeks, but I'm already down 19 lbs from the beginning of the month, so it seems to be really working for me. My priorities in order are: 1) Stay under 20g net carbs (carbs minus fiber) 2) Meet my fat goal 3) Stay under my calorie goal 4) Meet my protein goal I often have a hard time…

So excited for you! I know how hard depression can be, so I'm so happy to hear that you've been able to make it through the fog and back to the world! I am loving keto also (except sometimes I just really, really want some bread and butter). My husband has never been supportive of any diets because he loves me the way I am…

Wow @DittoDan, you look a lot different today!

That's a great idea! I will have to try that. I've been melting shredded cheese in the microwave and letting it cool, then using it as a "tortilla" for a sandwich wrap. I'm not gonna lie, though, sometimes I really miss bread.

I have had high levels on the stick since I started keto, but I feel fine and I'm losing weight, so I'm not too worried about it. Everything I've read says that ketosticks are not very reliable. I'm curious to see what others have to say, though.

I am only a week and a half into keto, but I'm pretty sure my flu symptoms have subsided. The biggest thing that helped me feel better when I had a headache or nausea coming on was to eat/drink more sodium. Since you're using the lite salt, be sure that you're getting a lot of sodium from other places. I used soy sauce a…

We've been using pork rinds instead of bread crumbs/panko and it is delicious! It adds protein and fat to your meal and my non-keto husband said he can't taste the difference.

I just finished my first week of keto, and so far I love it as a method of dieting. I don't know if I can maintain it as a lifestyle, because my husband is supportive, but not joining me on this journey. I love how full I feel, which is the opposite of how I've felt on traditional calorie-restrictive diets. That being…

Thank you everyone! I think I have it figured out. I felt some of the keto flu effects yesterday, mostly the mental fogginess and the headache, but I drank a ton of water and salted the heck out of my food, and by the end of the day I was fine. If that is the worst of it, I will consider myself extremely lucky!

I just started keto yesterday, so I am kind of in the same boat as you, but I did a lot of research before I started. Try http://www.ruled.me/keto-calculator/ to find out the approximate number of calories you need in a day. You don't want to go too low, because this is not a traditional, calorie-restrictive diet. Then…

Hello! This is my first time trying Atkins, and also my first time posting on a message board (ever)! I just completed my first day of the Atkins Induction and was pleasantly surprised that I did not feel hungry at all today. The hardest part is going to be resisting alcohol and appetizers at our weekend barbecues. Name:…
