I feel you, I have struggled with self esteem issues my whole life despite always being at a normal weight or underweight and never feeling good enough or “perfect”. There has been a lot of great advice already, a few things that have helped me are using positive affirmations and stopping negative self talk, I actually…

I have also been told I having “resting *kitten* face” and utilise it as much as possible at the gym (I’m introverted and hate chatting at the gym) but unfortunately it doesn’t seem to help. People (mainly men) constantly try and start conversations no matter how pissed off I look

My experience was exactly the same. I tried everything to feel good on this diet, magnesium, more fat, more salt, different supplements I think it just isn’t the WOE for me. I honestly felt pretty miserable. I have since discovered I am more of a volume eater and feel full with lots of fibre and protein over fat, where as…

Totally agree. I don’t even look at the serving size on packaged food, just the amounts per 100g

I find if I don’t get enough carbs or calories I have trouble sleeping. Also curious why you wouldn’t use melatonin?

I am 5.4 and 54kg (120 pound) I weight train 4 times a week and cardio on 3 days. I average 2050 cals a day and maintain on this

You should be saying calorie counting not CICO and understand the difference between the references

Curious how do you cook the cauliflower with the oats?
-
For me I find protein, fibre and fat in that order. For specific foods I find cottage cheese, eggs, fish, broccoli, Brussel sprouts and red meat are the most satiating
-
I totally second this. I could easily eat 600 cals of oatmeal and not be full, which is unfortunate because it’s so convenient and I do like the taste. Eggs and veggies on the other hand I would be full for hours. Personal preference I guess!

Thanks for the reply’s everyone, I think I am going to try and cut back a bit just on what I’m adding to my food. It’s hard though because I do love salt!

I tried Keto once when I was trying to cut some fat (like 4-5kg) I found it IMPOSSIBLE to stick to my calorie limit! I was so hungry and miserable all the time! My diet was something like a butter coffee pre workout (my workouts sucked as well) eggs after the gym, lunch would be chicken thighs cooked in butter and greens,…

I think sometimes it can actually be helpful to still incorporate fast food (or any high calorie food) you enjoy while losing weight and using mfp as it helps you see what a normal portion should look like, or help you learn how to incorporate these foods into your day. That way you can continue living your life while…

Fruit has sugar..

Can you believe my partner regularly buys the 125g bags of these and eats the whole thing as a snack? Luckily he has a very high calorie burn!
-
Maybe since cutting out the highly processed foods you are lacking sodium/salt? This can cause fatigue, make sure you are eating enough calories and carbs too
-
I do this. I am currently maintaining at about 2050 per day, during the week days I eat between 1600-1800 a day with a focus on protein and on the weekends I eat between 2500 to 3000. This works well for me and I don’t really get too hungry or anything on my lower cal days, I have a pretty busy/active job and usually only…

As someone who consumes both sugar and caffeine and who has had a narcotic stimulant addiction I can assure you they are NOT the same thing I don’t care what studies anyone brings up and it annoys me to no end when anyone compares sugar to cocaine.

I also hate it when I waste money on food that isn’t worth the calories. My favourite treat food is a good chargrilled burger, went to a new place and paid $15 for it to arrive just wet and soggy and gross! Not at all worth the calories I just had a couple of bites and left, so disappointing though.

There is a great volume eaters thread on here you should check out, it’s given me some great ideas for low calorie high volume meals!

I think a better way would be cut BACK as opposed to cut OUT. If someone is overweight and got there by eating a lot of high in added sugar foods (which can be easy to overeat) even just cutting your intake of these foods in half while keeping the rest of your diet the same will in turn cut calories and lead to weight loss…

1. Liver (unfortunately because it has such an awesome nutrition profile!) 2. Kale and rocket. Love spinach raw or cooked but cannot stomach either of these! One that actually I used to hate but have come to enjoy over time is avocado! I seriously used to dispise it but over time I've been slowly incorporating it to up my…

Just wanted to share this site I personally use when buying processed foods. It gives you information on the different additives and which ones to avoid and has helped me when deciding on what products to buy http://www.thetrustedtrolley.com.au/content/additive-safety-ratings

I'm having one of my favourite go-to dinners which is half a pack of beef mince pan fried in coconut oil on top of a big pile of roast veggies (eggplant, brocolli, carrot, pumpkin) and spinach then topped with mustard and a heaping of full fat Greek yoghurt. It's just over 800 cal usually

This. If you are trying to lose weight using a food scale is much more accurate than guessing

Nutella is the only food I completely lose control over! I can't just stop at one serving I could easily polish off an entire jar plus some with just a spoon. I am jealous of those saying they don't like it I wish I didn't the calories in it are crazy ! Definitely a very sometimes food for me

I don't understand why people are arguing about this, I thought the science of calories in calories out was a known fact? I learned this at high school?! Of course if you eat less calories than you burn you will lose weight! I developed an eating disorder when I was 14 in which I only consumed a snickers bar and a handful…

Overnight oats with berries, dried fruit, nuts and granola. About 750 cal
