I'm on Aropax as well as Seroquel, (with the occasional Clonazepam thrown in for good measure). Have lost 62.5lbs so far this year.
-
I've come through drug addition, went cold turkey from a pack a day smoking habit, and rarely drink alcohol anymore. To compare drinking diet sodas with those items is ridiculous. I will continue to have my can of coke zero every night with my dinner, tyvm.

If your degree taught you that starvation mode is real, then you need to request your money back.
-
Yeah. That's kind of my point. Only if you hands are the correct size to measure out a serving per packets etc could this be an accurate method. I'll stick to my scales, thanks.
-
But this method doesn't really help you track calories. If a "serving size" of a particular food has say, 200 calories, then someone with smaller hands might only be consuming 150 calories, but someone with larger hands might be consuming 250 calories. While the argument has been made that someone with larger hands is…

^This. I know a lot of people focus on the meds, but while they may potentially slow your metabolism, they cannot magically create calories out of thin air. As I said earlier in this thread, I'm on Seroquel as well as Paxil, which is notorious for "causing weight gain", yet I'm losing 2lbs a week, and they didn't cause me…

Oh, I know. It was just interesting how quickly I went from being mindful and moderating my intake to full on Cookie-Bear mode!
-
As much as I hate to admit it, you're probably right. Internal dialogue:- "Eat all the things? Why? Because F you, that's why!"

As far as I'm concerned, if there is one day a year that you shouldn't have to go to school, it's your birthday! I will move on, was just a real eye opener

Yeah. After yesterday I've resigned myself to the fact that I will be logging for the rest of my life. Not a bad thing, just hoped I'd be able to change my mindset at some point. But hey, no big. I have to take meds every day to keep my anxiety and panic attacks under control, and I'm fine with that, logging will just have…
-
Good question. I would like to say I wont do it again, and if I ensure I log everything, then I'm confident that I wont. But if I don't log; don't hold myself accountable...... it would likely be another free-for-all. Doesn't make me all that hopeful for maintenance.

I'm on Seroquel as well as Paxil, which is also often blamed for weight gain, yet have lost 55lbs so far this year. The drugs may cause increased appetite, but they don't have the magical ability to create calories out of nothing. At the end of the day weight gain/loss boils down to CICO.
-
I've just posted a suggestion to that effect for the mods. So freaking over reading those two words.

Dayum. Leave this thread to have some sleep and go to work, and it blows up (like I expected anything different). Well, all I can say is...

They wont hinder your weight loss if you eat them within your calorie allowance.

What does insulin have to do with it? If their BMR was calculated, then that has taken any medical conditions in to account. So, the 400 calorie deficit has already included any potential adjustments relating to insulin sensitivity/resistance. I still argue that there is no difference. Maybe high carb/low carb can produce…
-
Do you have to be an Egg to do it?
-
But, if we're assuming each have a 500 calories DEFICIT, then all medical conditions, hormones, etc have already been taken in to account as they are part of the CO bit of the CICO equation.

I'm with Nony on this one. I'm always amused at the amount of posters who just can't seem to wrap their heads around the fact that a calorie is merely a unit of measurement. Macros are where the "health" argument should come in to it, but those are a different, albeit complimentary, part of the equation. CI - doesn't…

Ooops - just mentioned the cleanse that the young'uns are doing to an older, fitness fanatic, colleague. She rolled her eyes and said that they're young and don't understand nutrition etc... so I made a comment about wondering whether I should point out to them that their liver and kidneys do a fantastic job at detoxing,…

What sort of heathen are you that you can eat big macs without the special sauce????
-
Nope. Apparently Australia and NZ are out of the loop. But that's OK, I can just amuse myself by bagging you lot whenever I get bored.
-
Morning coffee tends to bring out the WTFs in our office. We have three contenders from today:- 1. The group of three young women currently doing a "cleanse". No caffeine, no added sugar. Nothing but water until lunchtime, when they have a protein shake, then nothing but water until dinner which is veggies. Apparently they…

I love you.

@Nony_Mouse thank you for bringing some much needed sense to this thread. It was quite a wild ride until you showed up

Clearly you didn't get your magic wand when you signed up to MFP.
-
Well, apparently calories don't matter anymore. So, you might as well sit in the corner with me and share.

Reminded me of Leo DiCaprio in Blood Diamond speaking pidgen. MrM27 will forever have a South African accent in my head now.

A lot depends on the med, and also how you end up feeling. Some can cause water retention gains, but most real weight gain is caused by them giving you an increased appetite. Whether you can manage that at the same time or not will be the big thing. Of course getting your mental health in check is more important in the…
