  • Since my husband I started cooking mostly from Cook This Not That, we have the same problem haha and now even when we aren't using the book. It never happened so often before. It may have something to do with their delicious recipes.... or maybe not. Just thought that was a weird coincidence! ETNT forever! :)
  • All squash is good to me, but right now, we are loving butternut squash baked in the oven at 425 with a little olive oil, s&p, and smoked or sweet paprika. Very tasty and pretty! Summer squash I like also baked, but with olive oil, s&p, whatever herbs we have handy, and a bit of grated Parmesan or feta or goat cheese. All…
  • Knitapeace..... I used to pretend to be a dog 90% of my childhood. I would beg for Cracklin Oat Bran and then eat it off the floor. Embarrassing, but really speaks to its deliciousness! :)
  • Wow! I totally forgot about Cracklin Oat Bran. Good grief that stuff is sooo good. I pretty much like all cereal and eat it all dry, but if I had to pick a favorite....... Honey Bunches of Oats with almonds or Cheerios Protein Cinnamon Almond. I have never been able to eat just cereal for breakfast though. I need something…
  • I agree with the yogurt, etc. Keeps me full, but doesn't feel heavy and is easy! We also like to make "egg cups" with chopped veggies and scrambled eggs baked in a muffin tin (they keep VERY well in the freezer). Also, smoothies are a great option too. You can sneak in some peanut butter and/or protein powder without…
  • You can marinate red bell pepper slices in a little vinegar and whatever herbs or spices you like. They keep their crunch and absorb the flavor really well. One of my favorites! I'm sure this would work well with other veggies too. In fact, I marinate cucumbers in vinegar, dill, peppercorns on a regular basis. Very tasty.…
  • Eggs Plain Greek Yogurt String Cheese Fruit close enough to 3!
  • Skinnytaste does have some good ones. I've been cooking from Eat This Not That/ Cook This Not That books since college. All the recipes are delicious and easy! You may be able to get some from the ETNT website. Also, Half Price Books always has a good selection of ETNTs to pick from!
  • They are probably the most addictive salty snacks for me. I just can't buy them anymore. I tried portioning them out into baggies many times, but just ate multiple bags of them anyways. If they are at a party though, I can't help but indulge! Hopefully one day I can have enough self control to buy them again! They're just…
  • YUM I will definitely try this. Reubens are awesome and I'm sure they are wonderful in soup form too!
  • You will not regret it! I don't know where I discovered that, but it is the best thing! And I think I will have one today! :)
  • My favorites: balsamic vinegar or any kind of vinegar lemon juice, lime juice pico de gallo or any salsa (even corn salsa works as a dressing) cottage cheese a fried egg... the yolk is delicious as dressing + extra protein Lots of tasty suggestions here... now I want a salad for lunch!
  • I'm with you on that! PB is great on fruit, bread, or veggies and so is hummus. Very versatile and very delicious!
  • Tacos are fab in all forms! My two favorites: Turkey tacos: Ground turkey, low sodium taco seasoning, corn/black bean salsa, regular old red salsa, a little cheese, guac, and sour cream (or plain Greek yogurt if we don't have sour cream) all in a butter lettuce leaf. Fish or shrimp tacos: Any fish/shrimp we find on sale…
  • I had the same issue as a Freshman. I didn't bring my car down that year, so I took the bus a lot to get the basics (we didn't have a kitchen, so I would get tuna, oats, veggies, fruits, and such that was light to carry and didn't require any cooking beyond a microwave). Otherwise, I had many friends with cars and I just…
  • I would think about 2 days in the fridge, then the consistency gets a little weird for me. I make them all the time and love them though. The way I like to do it is make a batch (a dozen or so), then freeze them as soon as they cool off except the two I'll be eating the next day. I think reheating from frozen keeps them…
  • Not a new discovery for me since my grandparents have grown them since long before I was born, but FIGS! If you haven't had one...... try one! My favorite. Excellent fresh, frozen, preserved, whatever. And make for a great creamy addition to any smoothie. A more recent discovery- honeydew nectarine. Wow! Super sweet and…
  • You proved the old song wrong. You DO get bread with One Meatball:blushing: A little man walked up and down, He found an eating place in town. He looked the menu through and through To see what fifteen cents could do: One meatball, one meatball, He couldn't bought but one meatball. He told the waiter near at hand The…
  • "pizza" made with a portobello mushroom as the "crust". And roasted cauliflower. My husband begs for portobello pizzas all the time. So delicious and quite filling! Even good with salsa as the sauce if you don't have pizza sauce. I always forget pizza sauce at the store, but we typically have some salsa on hand. Tasty!
  • I really like Quest bars... I think they range from about 160-200 cals for 20 grams of protein. More importantly I think they are delicious! Especially heated up in the microwave. They also only have 1g of sugar, so that's another plus. And they help me safely indulge in sweet cravings. I never want any sweets after I have…
  • Oh and I can definitely put away some cereal as many of you have said. I ate a whole box of that Krave cereal when it first came out... on the way home from the store + like 10 minutes after we got home. Yikes! I have never purchased another box though. It's just too good.
  • I always think that way too. I read somewhere that if you don't want to eat anymore of a dessert, (at a restaurant or home or anywhere) just douse it with salt and you won't touch it anymore! Thought that was funny, but a great tip! If I'm at work and someone brings a brownie or other treat to my desk, I break it into…
  • also cheeze-its and blueberries together. Just on rare occasions!
  • Cottage cheese & tuna Cottage cheese on a dorito with a pickle slice Dark chocolate with red pepper flakes Cucumbers & peanut butter (sometimes on bread) Cookies with salt & vinegar chips in them... kitchen sink I think they are called? Also just extreme quantities of pickles! YUM!
  • I like to do chicken salad (with greek yogurt & dijon mustard and tons of celery). It stays good for a whole week and is really filling. We also prep breakfasts a lot (baked egg cups with whatever veggies we have lying around, or homemade mcmuffins, etc.) and I actually end up using those as lunch during the week…
  • Omelets with left over asparagus and onions and a sprinkle of mozz and salsa. Tasty!
  • I don't have children, but I do have a husband who loves poptarts and sugary cereal. I like to make a convenient breakfast for him so he can grab and go and I know what's going into his body. I especially like to make a lot of grab and go breakfast options and freeze them. Our favorites are homemade egg mcmuffins, mini egg…
  • I find life is much easier when I'm not denying myself every food I want. Usually during the week, I don't eat candy or sweets, or too much bread. I try to eat a lot of veggies and fruits with each meal... just makes it more satisfying. I also have a nice sweet Quest bar for my afternoon snack. Not only does it keep me…
  • That is a super idea!
  • Plain greek yogurt, a Tbsp Sprouts honey roasted peanut butter, pumpkin flax granola (low sugar and awesome), sliced almonds, agave nectar, and a sprinkle of chia seeds and flax seeds. Yummy, good combo of textures, and keeps me full until lunch.
