This is all amazing advice. Thank you ladies!!

Congratulations!!!

Thanks for all these great replies. @IdLikeToLoseItLoseIt I know the doctor is the best source of information, but perhaps you can remember the time when you finally decided to have a baby. It's all I can think about! And since I haven't told anyone I am ttc, I just wanted to hear some stories and talk about what I'm…

My skin has really improved from limiting sugar/refined carbohydrates!

Do you eat out a lot? I think that it is SO hard to estimate calories at restaurants. I hear you on the yo-yo, though. Usually I yo-yo up and down 5 pounds for a couple weeks, and then get a drop, and start yo-yoing over another (but loser) five pound range. As many others say, weight loss is not linear, but that is a…

When I moved in with my now-husband, I gained weight :( I think it's like a nesting thing. You are happy and not thinking about anything else other than, you know, nesting. In any event, over the past year up to my wedding this summer, I lost about 20 pounds. It's possible! Just stay on track and you can do it. :)

Keep going!! When I got to one-derland and stayed there consistently, it was a GREAT feeling.

Congratulations! Depression is a big thing to admit and work on getting past. It's really amazing to hear stories like yours!

Nice work! And good on you for getting rescues!

Um, YES. My fears/worries consume me. It really manifests into overanalyzing, which I am doing right now in fact. (I should be getting ready for work.) I look at my nutrition charts obsessively and am really hard on myself when I fail. The fear of failing really prevents me from getting started on a lot of things :(

This whole journey definitely takes up a lot of my thinking! I definitely relate to that!

Nice job!!

6-1, started at 208. Down to 191. Trying to get to 175!

I started going to Turbo Spin-- like flywheel, different name. There isn't anything that pushes me like that. I buy one class a week, in addition to my gym membership. It kicks my butt, and I'm hoping its kind of like a nice sure-thing calorie blaster once a week. The report told me I burned 722 calories at my class today.…

I agree that five pounds won't make much of a difference, but perhaps 15 would. But now that we are trying, I feel I've run out of time to lose, haha. My plan is to keep with my weight loss goals until we get pregnant. But like I said earlier, getting below 190 has proved rather elusive. Body fat is 29%, which is in a…

Thank you! I have read research on age and fertility that suggests it is harder to conceive as you age. But perhaps the negative effects have been exaggerated.

People around here like to dismiss science. But this study echoes the results of others like it. It's scary and disheartening. But some people do lose weight. We do know that support is one of the most important factors for success, which makes sites like this so important.

Okay, so I love avocados. In fact, I brought one to work today. Half in the a.m. for snack, the other half in the p.m. I find them really, really satisfying. I think it depends on how you view fat. Some people are on the low-fat diet, so that may not work. I am trying to avoid processed foods, so something natural like an…

I started with 28.5 inch thighs (I am six feet tall, but still, those are big thighs). I am down to 27.25 inches and there is a noticeable difference in my pants! Yay! For me, it's been weight lifting. I was so scared of making my big thighs bigger by lifting, but when nothing else was working, I gave lunges and squats a…

Wow! What an accomplishment! Thanks for the motivation!

I'm all about kale. I planted it in my garden and apparently it goes all summer long (unlike lettuce). I'm always looking for new things to do with kale!

This is one of my go-to recipes. I have served it at dinner parties and as an easy weeknight meal. http://www.realsimple.com/food-recipes/browse-all-recipes/steamed-salmon-asparagus-parchment You cook the fish in parchment and everyone gets a little "package" on their plate. It looks fancy. ;) When it's my turn to cook…

It's a proven fact that a brain responds to sugar the same way a brain responds to cocaine. Much processed food contains sugar. So changing your eating habits is absolutely going to result in withdrawal symptoms. :( best thing you can do is fight through the withdrawal, and limit the chance you might slip up (I.e. At this…

Awesome NSV! I had my high school graduation at Red Rocks. GREAT concert venue, as you know!

I'm sorry to hear you have been struggling. We've all been there--that moment on the scale where it's just shocking to see the number. Since you asked for advice, here's what has worked for me to get me started (and restarted after the holidays). I told myself that *all* I had to do was simply log my food. I made no grand…

I started at 208 and when I got under 200 and stayed there for a bit, it felt SO good. Good luck to you! Also, I think tall ladies take much longer to change pants/dress sizes. I took some pictures wearing the same clothes I was wearing in pictures of me at a heavier weight. It was really shocking. I almost couldn't…

Great job!!

I'm 6 feet and one half inch tall. Size 10 shoes. Size 8 ring finger. I also don't know what a reasonable goal weight is. I started at 208 and now I'm down to 193. I was in size 14 pants (tight) and now size 14 pants fit how they are supposed to in the leg and butt, but are often too big in the waist (I am now comfortably…

Several months in I noticed a downward trend. Every day and even some weeks there are oscillations. But I do like looking at my graph using the 1, 2 and 6 month time periods and seeing a general downward trend. It really does take time to see noticeable results, I think.

I wish I was as good as these people posting here, in terms of only eating ice cream and other such food when it fits in calories for the day. I'm not! And yes, I also feel guilty. I'd like to get past that. It's mental, which is a lot harder to fix than simply adjusting ones calorie goals. We will get there!
