9.4 miles, 1hr 35min, 10min pace per mile. Goal was to run slow and longer.

Getting up, putting on your workout gear, and getting out the door is half the challenge. If you do it often enough it can become a habit. You can add me if you need motivation.

Ok, first, 50 is only a number and is not an indication of what you can achieve. You can reach your goal and do more than you think you can! Second, from what I have learned, if the weight isn't coming off then maybe you need to change things up a little and introduce a different type of workout. And third, try to think…

Great job on being so close to your goal weight. I am also a beginner yogi (about two years now) and I have found that it is helping with flexibility, balance, and definitely strength. I also swim with a local adult swim team which I love doing, great people, great environment and I am learning a lot. I also run with some…

Often that is one of the toughest challenges, making yourself a priority when there are so many other things in life that require attention. I have found that balance to be challenging. If you think I could help at all, you can add me. Good luck and Happy Birthday! -Scott

I fall off the wagon all the time! But I just get right back on! Don't give up! I try to look at diet and exercise as a life style that I am choosing. I am choosing to try to eat better. I am choosing to try to exercise each day. Just keep trying! -Scott

I like all the suggestions already given. It seems to me that you almost need to do all of the above plus I would add one more thing. Burn more calories. I have a really hard time with snacking, especially in the evening (or anytime there are doughnuts around). I try not to beat myself up about it and I try even harder to…

I'm an active member, currently on weight maintenance, and looking for support. You can add me!

I'd be happy to help. Here is my workout schedule so you can see if it similar to yours. I currently swim with a masters swim team 4 days a week, M,W,F,Sa at 6:00am. Since I have been running some races in my area (just completed my 2nd half marathon), I run Tues, Thurs, and Saturday in the morning, Saturday being my long…

I'd be happy to help, you can add me. Oh, I am a father of six, working on maintaining weight or maybe adding on a few pounds, considering whether to start train for a marathon, and I really struggle with eating healthy.

Staying motivated can be really challenging. What I would suggest is that you set goals to achieve something (weight loss, bike race, or run) and then write down a plan to reach those goals. Use sites like MFP to create accountability by telling your friends what your goals are. They can then help keep you motivated. Also,…

I agree, it helps when you have support from others. I would be happy to help. -Scott

I'd be glad to help. -Scott

If you find it hard to limit your food intake, your other option is to increase your calorie burn. I would suggest adding to your biking with other activities, like running/walking, weight lifting, yoga, whatever you might be interested in. Be open to trying new workouts. Set goals, signup for a bike ride that challenges…

Good luck! And just keep trying! A healthier you is worth the effort! We only really fail when we stop trying!

Another thing, make that morning workout a time that is set aside for yourself. Getting the workout done before family chaos kicks in is easier than trying to do it in the middle of chaos. Once it becomes a habit, you may find that you start waking up before your alarm goes off!

I have 6:00 am workouts Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. All are swim workouts with a local Masters Swim Team (usms.org). What helps me get moving in the morning is, 1st thing instead of Coffee, get into the shower, that helps wake me up. Second thing that helps is routine, I basically do the same thing each time.…

Discouragement is normal, we all go through times of discouragement. I would encourage you to be patient with yourself. Hang in there and keep tracking your food and exercise time. Healthy eating and exercise habits need to be a life long goal. Instead of constantly looking at the scale for progress feedback, just…

Keep going! It is hard at first, but your efforts will be worth it! -Scott

Hey, take it from a father of 6 kids. It is good for younger kids to be away from mom and dad once in a while. He will be just fine! So get rid of that piece of guilt. Besides, the better you feel, the more you will actually be able to play with your kids. Make the investment of at least 5 times a week. You are not only…

Stress, anxiety, depression, and a whole bunch of other things cause my emotions to go up and down. I am excited one day then discouraged the next. I know we need mirrors and scales to track our progress but often, for many of us, those devices consistently provide us a distorted view of reality. I wish we could just focus…

I'd be happy to help. I'll send you a friend request. -Scott

Your feelings are not immature or shallow. It's about self image, how we feel about ourselves. You are lucky to have a supportive spouse. Hang on to him! And like one of the previous posts mentioned, be healthy for the kids, your husband, and yourself. And don't give up trying!
-
Your statement here has been bothering me since I saw your post. Maybe because I know my wife has felt the same way at times. But PLEASE (sorry for the all caps) remember that a husband's love for his wife, the mother of his children, is so much more than skin deep! You have sacrificed a lot to bring children into this…

I would agree that setting goals is the key. The MFP app is really good for monitoring your calories and can help you set a weight goal. I have heard others talk about not worrying so much about weight but rather focus on strength, fitness, flexibility, and eating right then the weight will take care of itself. I like that…

I am happy to help! I have realized how important it is to have other people around to support health and wellness goals. I don't have a lot of experience but I am a good listener! One of my challenges is with meal planning or eating right in the evening and on weekends.

You have probably heard the saying, "We are our own worse enemy". I find it interesting and troubling that we often look upon ourselves with the most severe criticism. We compare ourselves to others, seeing our differences as flaws. Part of the challenge most of us face is learning to love and accept ourselves. Being…

No kidding! You definitely need to get your boyfriend on board and supporting you. It is a challenge when your significant other can not, or does not want to participate. I'll send you a friend request. We can all use support. Do you have any specific goals you are working on?

I would be happy to help! It is hard to eat right and get enough exercise when you are doing it with no support or others to help you be accountable. I am trying to be better about tracking what I eat. Let me know how I can help. -Scott
