Hi all,
I am a 30 year old man and through most of my 20s was quite large - 16 stone at my heaviest in 2013. I then discovered MyFitnessPal and tried limiting myself to 1,200 which lead to me losing 3 stone in 3 months.
Since then I have been able to maintain, but I still want to lose more weight, particularly because I have quite a lot of fat on my midriff. To be honest I am a massive foodie and don't particularly like limiting myself, but I know it's got to be done! I'm not sure whether to go extreme again or maybe something like 1,700 so that I can eat more but still lose weight over time. Could anyone recommend a suitable deficit?
I do a lot of cycling for exercise but feel that I also need to do something else to help with the stomach fat - is there something easy I can do at home that will help?
Sorry for all the questions, just wish I had the strength to crack on and lose the weight! I'm currently 13 stone and my aim is 12 stone/flat stomach, whichever comes first!
Thanks

If you find it hard to limit your food intake, your other option is to increase your calorie burn. I would suggest adding to your biking with other activities, like running/walking, weight lifting, yoga, whatever you might be interested in. Be open to trying new workouts. Set goals, signup for a bike ride that challenges you.
Hope this helps!

1200 is too low for a male. It's the lowest women are supposed to go!
Go with a deficit that lets you lose weight at a comfortable pace. Set mfp to 0.5-1lb loss per week. This will let you develope eating habits that will let you maintain the weightloss long term. You need a minimum grams of protein, fat, fiber and vitamins per day to keep your body opperating properly (hard to do on super low calories).
You can't spot reduce stomach fat unfortunately.
