Spent the weekend at a couples retreat at an alternative health center in our area. The meals were mostly vegetarian. We ate way too many gluten free carbs and way too little protein. We both gained weight and felt terrible. The couples seminar was excellent. :) I have been having a very hard time with a pinched sciatic…

Are we sure that people are doing the open diary settings correctly? You need to go to settings at the top right, then diary settings and scroll down to diary sharing to change it to public. Quick! somebody (who is not my friend) please check my diary to see if it is open. Then friend me. (If you want to.) :)

Happy Friday Everyone! Yesterday I took the positive step of continuing the Primal Blueprint Certification Course. I signed up almost a year ago, did a few modules, then stopped as life got crazy. The certification will allow me to hold classes about the Primal lifestyle and paleolithic eating in my area. I also hope to…

Good Morning, Still doing Primal but moving closer to Paleo. (Still holding on to stevia, butter, occasional cheese.) Goal 115g Protein, 85-100g fat, 60-75g carb (total). I want to encourage everyone to keep on tryng. Paleolithic eating has saved my life and even though I have struggled for the last year, I know that I…

Welcome! I am paying heavily for Sunday in hunger and cravings. Grrrr. When will I learn?
-
Anyone is welcome to add me too. I have been Primal for 5 years now and have a good amount of experience.

Glad to hear that yesterday was back on track. I am an example of what can happen when the binges and carb addiction get out of control and stay that way for months. I know that low carb works, especially when I stick to clean whole foods. Even so, I am fighting my way back down the scale after regaining 55 lbs of the…

cindytw, Luckily, my entire transaction took place by email. I hate dealing with reps on the phone. Last night was the cast party for a musical I was in. I did not behave. Back to clean Paleo today. My lower carb, clean plan worked great last week. I dropped down to the low 240's. Needless to say, I took a break from…

Ha! I'm a werewolf too! Thanks for giving me a name for my monster. :)

Awwww darn, I finished reading the thread. Now to find some NSVs of my own. Congratulations to all.

Sounds like you are doing the best you can. Take care of yourself.

I went clean Paleo three days ago and am doing well. Clean Paleo for me means dropping dairy for the most part. In addition, I am choosing to eat very low carb for a while. Trying to break the craving/binge cycle. My only concern is that my protein intake dropped dramatically due to dropping whey protein. Planning to add…

I ate sardines today...and I didn't die. :p

Hey Twibbly, Thanks for the book recommendation. Today I began working toward a Whole 30 / clean Paleo plan. The only thing I didn't drop this morning was the stevia in my coffee, but I did measure it. I feel like part of my struggle in staying clean may have to do with AS and dairy. I'm confused. It is almost as if I know…

Welcome all. Legit, I hope your first day went well. I have settled on a Primal plan that consists of a Bullet Proof Coffee for breakfast, a large high protein Lunch, a Snack and a small dinner. This allows me to eat within an 8 hr window and to keep my energy up for work. I also find that eating more later helps with my…

Congratulations!

It always amazes me how fast inflammation goes down when I eat clean food. Three days Primal, down 5 lbs. In other news, I have to give kudos to the Fitbit company. I have been having battery life issues (only 6 hrs of life to a charge). I sent an email. They investigated by looking at my account. They are sending me a…

I would advise reading The Primal Blueprint and The Paleo Solution. Or go on the websites and read the eating recommendations. Then make your own decision. I love the flexibility of Primal with dairy allowed and the 80/20 principle. But, I feel my body is healthier when I eat cleaner Paleo. Either way, I believe a…

Ohhh keemra, mine would be "bimike" lol. What people might make of that...

If the msg worries you, just use the salt. :) I take sodium chloride pills I ordered from amazon. Funny thing about sodium levels. I am a singer who does musical theater. Even when I eat moderate carb, (150grams/day) I find that I need to supplement sodium to avoid breathlessness.
-
Interesting. I think the discussion is really about different "eating plans" that can get you into a state of ketosis. There aren't different "types of ketosis". Ketosis is when your blood level of ketones is anywhere above 0.5mmol. There are many ways of getting there. When I was doing 150 grams of carb a day in an 8 hr…

Amazing work!

Bouillon is usually found in the soup aisle of any store. 1/2 a teaspoon of table salt in water would get you the same level of sodium as well.

Good Morning, I hope everyone is doing well. @ May - I am sorry for the in-law troubles. I am sure it is causing stress for both you and your husband. Hoping for a goid solution. @Rebecca - Thinking of you and wishing that you get past this crisis quickly. @ Karla- The crazy things we do for our pets...We adopted a 2 yr…

Try adding sodium.I take 1-2 1 gram sodium pills per day depending on my carb level. Try having some bouillon or salted water. Most commercial bouillons are about 1 gram of sodium per serving. A teaspoon of table salt has 2300 mg (2.3 grams) of sodium.
-
How low are your carbs? Try an increase of sodium. I take 1-2 sodium chloride pills daily depending on my carb level. An easy/safe experiment would be to drink a cup of bouillon (about 1gram of sodium per serving ) or the equivalent of salted water to see if your symptoms improve.

Yes I do remember you Twibbly. :)

MDA as a shout out to marksdailyapple, a site that saved my life. I wanted friends from there to be able to find me here. Pebbles has always been my nickname because my Mom's name was Wilma. Good name for a paleolithic convert. 67 is my birth year.
