I had those tests done by that company many years ago. I believe the test is for "sensitivities", rather than true allergies. I was "sensitive" to so many things that I didn't have much left to eat. After a few months I couldn't take it anymore and went back to eating most of those things. I've never had a reaction other…

If you're cooking and cleaning and caring for a newborn all day I guarantee you're burning a lot more calories than you think. I don't have a newborn but I do a lot of cooking and cleaning and my pedometer says I walk 1.5 miles every day just doing that. Granted my house is huge and I have some outdoor chores but still.

I pretty much only worry about saturated fat. To hit my fat macro of about 70s grams per day but only 15 saturated, I'll eat nuts, olive oil, avocados, flaxseed, etc. As rtp said, if you take in fewer carbs you can replace those calories with more fat calories.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll give them a try.

I'll try once more. My diary for the past few weeks is not typical. I am not deficient in calories or fat or carbs. I've just been logging crappy. If you want to see how I more typically eat, look at my diet from 9/9 - 9/14. I'm usually way over in fat and I'm trying to make sure I get enough protein while not going over…

Not a body builder. I'm 52 and just trying not to lose muscle as I lose weight. It could be that my macros are not set properly. If I decrease the protein I have to increase carbs or fat or both. I'm leery about increasing them because of the insulin-resistance, high cholesterol and triglycerides. I could just eat fewer…

I do. I've been bad at logging in the last 10 days or so (sick), but I normally log accurately and have no problem getting up to 1500-1600 calories a day. I'm just having a problem getting enough protein without eating a ton of meat, eggs, nuts, etc., but I also need to watch sugar because I'm insulin-resistant.

I switched gradually from 2 tsp. sugar and 1/4 cup milk to a pinch of stevia and a tsp. of milk. I now like it this way. I think I'd gag if I went back to the old way.
-
I use Stevia. It's not artificial, it's a 0-calorie, herbal sweetener.
-
I looked at it too. If you're logging accurately, you're way over some days, way under on others. First try to get a handle on eating consistently and regularly throughout the day, every day.

I use stevia in coffee and tea. At first it tasted weird and left an aftertaste, so I added a small amount of sugar to it. Eventually I cut down and then eliminated the sugar and now stevia tastes fine to me. There is a product called Truvia that is part sugar/part stevia that claims to be good for baking but I haven't…

My opinion is that it's a really, really bad idea.

I've been doing that lately without knowing (or caring) that it had a name. If anyone had insisted I stick a label on how I was eating, I would have said "eating clean" while sometimes "cheating."

I had CFS for several years in my 20s. I eventually made an almost-full recovery, though I never got all of my energy back and I still get very achy if I am under bad stress for a prolonged time. One of the first things I did that made a difference in the CFS was to take Shiitake mushroom extract. I still use various types…

I've lost 9 lbs. in the last 6 weeks without exercising. It's good for you but isn't necessary to lose weight. Just eat fewer calories than you burn. I will add that I drastically changed the type of calories I was eating about 6 weeks ago. I limited my carbs to a little less than MFP was willing to give me and I started…

Every day I drink one cup of coffee, one cup of black tea, and one cup of green tea. In 12-oz. mugs. It helps me stay full between meals, but I'm sure it's because of that extra quart of water, not anything in the coffee or tea.
-
I always thought it was because I was eating more, so I've made a hard push to track everything and my food intake has remained pretty steady but my rate of loss has slowed way down in the last couple weeks. I always feel very sluggish mentally and physically in the Fall/Winter, extremely so when the weather is gloomy for…

If you can't control it enough to stop after 1 or 2 you will need to stop completely, at least for awhile.

Mine is public. You can add me.

This. I spent almost a year losing 1 pound a month while I educated myself and developed the necessary habits to change my eating. Now the habits are finally ingrained and I've lost 7 pounds in the past month. Without any exercise. I have a health problem that restricts my breathing and I can't exercise right now. I'm…

Motivation is what gets you started, habit is what keeps you going. You can't just get in shape in the next 9 months and then give it up. While you still have some time, make the choice to weigh everything, learn healthier ways to eat, pre-package everything healthy you can for when there's no time to weigh and pack meals,…

Yes, that's exactly what I was trying to say. I didn't understand about customizing the macros. I'm going to go figure that out right now. Thank you.

I've lost 17 lbs. so far and I didn't really notice until 5 lbs. ago when my clothes began to feel comfortable instead of tight, and when I looked in the mirror I could see that they fit so much better, especially the tops. But I don't really feel it, it just feels like my clothes somehow changed, not me.

I lasted 20 seconds. She's mentally ill.

Vienna Sausages, because one day I was eating them while opening a can of cat food and realized they smelled the same.

If you mean oatmeal, I don't. I've tried everything in an effort to learn to like it but the texture is slimy no matter how I disguise it. But I like anything baked with oatmeal and I love raw oatmeal cookie dough.

I'm prediabetic as well and still trying to figure it all out.
-
Stevia and evaporated milk.
-
Pre-diabetes diagnosis. I didn't want it to turn into real diabetes and be on meds the rest of my life. Also, my BP and cholesterol had been high for awhile. I knew I was looking at eventual heart and kidney failure and years of sickness and pain.

It upsets my stomach a little. Sometimes if I'm at my calorie limit after lunch and still hungry, I drink a cup because it upsets my stomach just enough to keep me from eating till dinner, but not enough to interfere with my day. I had a friend who said that the teabags made her sick but the loose tea steeped in hot water…
