  • WooHoo, finally back on my bike. We've been traveling for a few days so it was great to finally get out and get some exercise. I've set a goal of 700 miles for this spring and summer so it was good to get the first six miles done. It was windy but it was exciting to think I had almost 50 pounds less too peddle around since…
  • Thanks Bettikins52 and welcome to the group.
  • "Many things to be thankful for such as: two snowstorms and we didn't lose power either time; and we can afford to crank the heat up a little when it gets bitterly cold as it is today. But my favorite gratitude item this morning is getting my BMI down to 28.7 - when I started my journey at the end of August, it was 40.2. "…
  • Thanks everyone for the kind and encouraging words. retirehappy, which model of fitbit do you have if you don't mind saying?
  • Woke up to cold and ice/snow but only 2" - 3" of the predicted 14"+ we were supposed to get. So thankful the weather folks are not in control of the snow. Climbed on the scales this morning and was under 200 lbs. for the first time in about 40 years. When I started this journey I had no idea I would ever be at this weight…
  • Thankful for a warmer day today. Going for a walk in a few. Thankful for MFP. I weighed in at 200 today! That's down 45 pounds since last May and 35 of those pounds since beginning MFP in September. I have a goal of being under 200 by 2-1-15 so it looks like I have a shot at it. Also thankful for this site and all of the…
  • Greetings. So thankful for finally getting a day I could get out and walk. !st time since 1-1-15. Also first time to have a pace below 16 min./mile for a 2 mile+ walk. Guess all that pent up energy helped :) Hopefully there will be more days this week.
  • I'm thankful we are having the second above freezing day in a row. Only two the entire month I believe. I'm thankful I only have three pounds to go to be under 200. Probably around 40 years since I've been this weight. I'm thankful we will be celebrating a granddaughter's 9th birthday this evening and my 91 year old Mom…
  • Just have to comment about MFP. It WORKS!! I have not been able to walk since Jan 2nd. The weather has been terrible with highs around 10 degrees and wind chills some days at -30. County roads are a sheet of ice right now. I've been faithful in staying under my 2000 calories and have lost 4 pounds during that time. Getting…
  • Hi Myrtbbk. My wife cooks a lot of items from scratch as well. I do a lot of comparing items in the database. Look for "homemade" as folks have entered a lot of different items and compare them to pre-made foods. Homemade usually are fewer calories and less sodium than store bought. Sometimes I just make a judgement call…
  • Hey Cris. I see a companion marketing opportunity to go along with the food safe. Sell a fancy two pound hammer "for emergency use" when you just can't take it any more. :D Thanks for posting your concerns about the ingredients in the teas and elsewhere. Fortunately I don't have to deal with the diabetes but my Dr. scared…
  • I'm grateful to have arrived home safely after an uneventful 7.5 hour trip. So good to visit with family and especially all four grand kids but it sure is good to be home too. Now I'm ready to double down and get under 200 but 2-1-15!! Darrell
  • WTG Janet in Myrtle Beach! A great start to the new year. I just finished my last walk in TN for a while. Did 3.8 miles in beautiful Edwin Warner Park in Nashville. We heading home to the cold in Northeast Indiana tomorrow. Will miss the hills, streams and trees on the walks here. I'll have flat roads and cornstalks and…
  • Love your post W3. Wishing everyone here a wonderful 2015.
  • Wow, mxchana, that is great. 1968, that's a long time. That's the year we got married. :) Lots of catching up to do.
  • Just got back from a two mile walk in a light drizzle. About 40 degrees and calm so it was a pleasant walk. Retirehappy, I had a lot of cousins too. Mom and Dad each had five siblings so our family get togethers were big.
  • It's not morning but I'm grateful. Wife and I came down to Nashville on Wed. to be with our Daughter and family for Christmas. Son and his family (they live near us) came down today from his in-laws near Cincinnati. Now we can have Christmas all together. We don't get to be all together nearly enough so I'm very thankful…
  • Way to go. I take my everyday belt to my workshop and drill another hole in it! Wife says I can't wear it out in public but it keeps my pants up. :)
  • Finally dropped another pound after a week of little movement. Must of been the 2+ miles I was able to walk yesterday. Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. We're having our get together today and another one on Saturday. Hopefully I can maintain.
  • Really thankful to be able to get a walk in. First chance in a couple of weeks and it felt so good to do 2+ miles! Been busy with funerals, funeral dinners (church family) and doctor appointments for my Mom. Then the weather has just been really crappy. 28 degrees with 10 mph winds makes this a good day compared to what…
  • If it were only that easy. :\
  • Well, I saw the Doc today for six month checkup. He and nurse both did a double take when looking at my weight. Lost 30 lbs. since May. 20 of it since starting with MFP 60+days ago. Cholesterol and glucose both took major drops. Can't wait to get the next 20 off!
  • Down to 217 this AM. That is down 19 lbs since I started with MFP almost two months ago. Down from 251 last May. Going back to Dr. next week for regular checkup. Anxious to see how my bloodwork has changed. I've been trying to walk 1.5 - 2.0 miles a day. Rainy days are a bummer. All of your success stories are a real…
  • Thanks mbrough58. The colors have been as brilliant this fall as they have for a number of years. Let me extend my condolences on your selection of universities. I'm a Boilermaker so just had to put in a little dig. :) I'd gladly sent you some snow in January for old times sake, if I could.
