A kilo per week requires a massive 1000 calorie deficit a day, i.e. you will have to eat 1000 calories below your total calorie expenditure. That's not easy. In fact, it's really difficult. So- - don't get too discouraged if your weight loss rate ends up slower, it's slower than that for most of us. It's not a sign of any…

Are you sure you maintain on 1200 calories? That sounds very little. Are you very short and very sedentary? Do you add exercise calories to your allowance? Are you going to walk/hike/swim etc as part of your holiday?

The guide must have been written a while ago and it might be baffling to a younger audience. What's a cassette tape, I hear them ask! :D. Some of the comparisons are rather confusing. For example, I know what 1tbs looks like, but actually have no idea what a poker chip looks like. Comparing the size of something to a…

I'm down a couple of sizes after 40 lbs lost, from UK size 34H worn with an extender, to 32G/34F that fits comfortably. But I've lost so much weight around my waist (from over 36 inches to under 29 inches now) that they still look absolutely massive in proportion to my narrow torso. Both my hips and my breasts seem rather…

I saw your list and couldn't help thinking: On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me A drink with powdered green tea On the second day of Christmas my true love gave to me Two cling wraps And a drink with powdered green tea (I'll stop now)

Ashley, I don't know where in the UK you live, but I'm wondering if it might be beneficial for you to see if your local council or your local community college offer any kind of cooking classes? You are a young mum and it would be really useful to you to learn how to plan and prepare proper meals both for yourself and for…

Definitely - I've lost close to 18kg in the last 14 months with a couple of mini plateaus throughout, and I'd always feel my body would continue reorganising even when the weight would remain stable.
-
Mine is open. I've been losing consistently but slowly, about 39 lbs over 13 months.
-
That's a spectacular transformation!

I've gone from about 42-36-42 when I was 185 lbs to 40-30-40 now at 148 lbs. Most of my weight loss has been in my middle section, that's just how I'm built. I don't think I can lose much more around the hips, they are just wide. I probably could lose more around my breasts (my rib cage is 30 inches, like my waist), but I…

I on the other hand must have started drinking it aged about ten, and have drunk it every single day since. I think coffee, particularly my first morning coffee, is one of the things that makes life worth living. I practically worship coffee. PS I drink Italian style coffee with semi-skimmed milk, and a touch of sugar and…

I have lost 37 pounds in the last year. I don't there was a single day I ate only 1,200 calories. Some people can stick to such a low calorie limit over a long period of time, some can't. I definitely can't. I knew I'd just crash and burn if I tried to go as low as that. I had to do it slowly, by eating 1,500-1,600 in the…

That really sounds like me! I just measured my waist again and it's edging towards 29 inches now, so I lost close to seven inches off my waist, and practically nothing off my hips. Thank you for your insights, everyone. It's really helpful hearing from others who are similarly proportioned.

That's interesting - I actually find it easier to stick to my calorie goal over the weekend, because of the following: - during the week, I always have breakfast before going into work, so I always eat 3 meals a day. Over the weekend, I tend to skip breakfast and replace it with brunch or early lunch, followed by dinner…

That's an interesting angle on it, and one I haven't previously considered.
-
That totally sounds like me! I am just half an inch shorter than you, and I'm always as tall as 6 foot tall people when I'm sitting! Good luck!
-
Thanks for replying, firef1y72. Hope you reach your goal! Anyone else? I think I'd be reassured knowing I'm not the only short legged woman in the world :)

I think an important question is - is 1500 calories a day something you can stick to over a long period of time? On my personal example - I seem to need to eat about 1,600 calories per day minimum. I've now been eating 1,600-1,800 per day for over a year, and I've lost about 17kg, slowly but surely. I wouldn't last a…

Exactly that! You look fantastic, well done on your transformation!

I'm 41, 5'5.5'' and 149lbs (starting weight was 185lbs). I average about 10,000 steps a day but do no other exercise. I maintain at just under 2,000 calories a day, lose just under 2lbs per month on 1,700 calories a day, and lose about 1lb per week on about 1,500 calories a day. I couldn't last a day on as little as…

I always drink my coffee with semi skimmed milk, for a perfectly balanced taste (to me). I find full fat milk, cream or creamer make the coffee too oily, and skimmed milk makes it too thin.

Hi! I'm 5'5.5, and I've started my MFP journey just over a year ago. My diary is open, and happy to add new members for support! I'm UK based and 41 years old. SW 185 CW 149 GW not sure - 140ish? I don't mind what I look like now, and I'm within the healthy BMI range, but I wouldn't mind losing a bit more. I also don't…

20 oz of coffee sounds terrifying to me - I'm European, used to Italian style coffee - to me coffee is a thick non translucent liquid, consumed with a splash of real milk (not powdered creamer), in a small cup. I have a couple of those a day. I sometimes have them black, sometimes with a tiny bit of sweetener or sugar…

What was your predicted weight loss over the first four months? Have you maybe lost MORE than My Fitness Pal predicted over those four months? What was your daily deficit? I'm asking because a way to look at your plateau is that you are still consolidating the loss of 35 lbs - and that's a massive loss in such a short…

I wouldn't last a day on as little as 1,200 calories. I don't know your full stats, OP, but I'm a moderately active 41 year old, starting weight 185 lbs, I was losing a pound per week on 1550 calories, I'm still losing about 1/2 pound per week on 1800 calories per day. I'd recommend bearable and slow rate over fast and…

Good luck from Tanja to Tanya!

Before I started calorie counting in October last year, I had endless attempts at losing weight and getting fitter. Inevitably, every time I'd try to lose weight by joining a gym or stepping up my exercise in another way, I'd end up gaining weight at quite a fast rate. I thought, like you, I was eating the same. I clearly…

I know I've already posted in this thread, but OP, your water intake worried me so much! I am looking forward to a update after you've seen a doctor and reduced water intake. 20 litres is just such an outlier, I've never heard anyone drink anything remotely like that. I thought even for the most extreme conditions on…

I'm not qualified to give medical advice. However, googling "symptoms of having too much water" lists symptoms that can be confused with dehydration. Please go and see a doctor. 20 litres of water sounds outright dangerous. Edited to add: especially dangerous if you are keeping your sodium levels low.

I'm 1m 66cm, or 5'5 and a bit. When I started here at 84kg (185 lbs) I was a UK size 16, now I am at about 68kg (about 150lbs) and I'm mostly a UK size 12, but I can fit in some size 10 clothes as well. I have a very hourglass figure, so often a size 10 will be a better fit for my waist, but the size 12 will be a better…
