I'm 1.66m tall (a bit over 5'5''). My starting weight in October last year was 185 lbs - about 84kg. My current weight is 152 lbs, just into the healthy BMI range, and I'm already happy with that. I could go a bit further down, but I'm not aiming to much lower, maybe to about 140 at most.

That's not really a cereal, though, is it? Surely cereals by definition should contain grains.

Not quite, but I'm from Croatia, and living in England. I lost close to 15kg in the last 9 months, but I gain a bit of weight every time I go and visit my family  Not to mention Christmas...

This is what mine looks like - at the same time very bumpy, and clearly heading down!

I'm 1.66m tall - that's about 5 foot 5 and a half. Starting weight was 84kg - 185lbs. Current weight is just under 70kg (about 154lbs). Goal weight - maybe 65kg? I started as a large UK size 16, and I'm now a UK size 12, US size 8, with a waist of around 30 inches. My body shape is a bit funny - I am quite stocky, with…

Why would that be the healthiest? Would it not be healthier to combine it with some protein and fat to turn it into a whole balanced meal? I'd second protein rich toppings like veggie chilli, curried chickpeas or lentils. Then a bit of oil drizzled on the top - how about chilli or garlic infused oil for extra flavour.

I've been losing weight consistently over the last eight months, but if you look at my weight trend, you'll see that it goes up as often as it goes down, and that I've gone for a few weeks here and there gaining weight, while somehow still losing weight overall. I certainly haven't lost each and every week at all.

I play banjo and fiddle (folk violin). I only started playing in my mid thirties, and I surprised everyone, including myself, by how quickly I picked it up. I love playing music. I'm lucky - London, where I live, has a wonderful music scene.

Love polenta. It used to be very traditional breakfast food where I'm from (northern Croatia) - coarse yellow polenta cooked in salty water, eaten with just a dollop of sour cream or creme fraiche. Heavenly stuff. Baked into corn bread or muffins, particularly if you also add cheese and peppers - yum. It also goes very…

Losing a pound per week is excellent. Keep up the good work!

Just for comparison, OP, I am also 5 foot 5 and moderately active (walking 10,000 steps on average every day, no other exercise), and I've been losing weight exactly as predicted by MFP - 1 pound per week on 1,500 calories per day and 1/2 pound per week on 1,700 calories per day. I weigh absolutely everything I can.

I gained weight a while ago when I started running and didn't track my food. This is because running was making me hungrier, and I ate more without realising - an extra slice of bread here, an extra snack there - all adds up. I didn't think I was eating more, but I was. So it might be a good idea to track your eating to be…

I hope you find the way to slim down that suits you personally. Even though what works can always be summarised as "Calories in should be less than calories out", there's a number of ways to achieve that. What works well for one person may not be right for another. For example, an acquaintance of mine swears by 5+2…

I was reading this thread on the bus, and I missed my bus stop as I was so engrossed in it... OP, you are a grown up, you make your own choices. Eat what you want, face the consequences. That's ultimately what all of us do, every day, in many ways. Also, there's a billion things out there to get us. But, the average life…

How about using coconut milk, just less of it, some water to increase the volume, and then some puréed veg to thicken the sauce?
-
Plain green tea and most diet soda just isn't worth tracking for calories. Salad leaves I log only so I keep track of eating enough fruit and veg, not for the calories - there's usually something like 5 calories per portion. When I use the recipe builder for soups and stews, I got in the habit of logging all my dried herbs…

I'm like that with cilantro (we call it coriander in the UK), and I'll detect absolutely minute quantities of it, as the taste of it is so overwhelming. Love avocados on their own and in salads, but I tried a smoothie that had avocado in it, and that was disgusting. The liberating thing about CICO approach to weight loss…

I drank four cups of green tea a day when I weighed 84 kilos, I still drink four cups a day today at 73 kilos, but the tea didn't have anything to do with the weight change - eating less calories than I burn did.

Can you list ten junk foods that you enjoy? You only told us beer and candy so far. Edited to add: I'm asking because you keep saying "other than junk food" and I suspect you must mean more than just beer and candy as I doubt that in the past you had been overweight just by drinking beer and eating candy on an otherwise…

OP, I don't even understand your question. There's literally millions of foods to choose from. You don't like chicken? Sure, don't eat chicken. There's beef, pork, fish, other seafood. Or there's cheese and other dairy, or even tofu, quorn and other protein substitutes. You don't like steamed vegetables? OK, but how about…

Are you finding it easy to stick to a 1,200 calorie diet? In that case, it's your choice - lose slightly faster at 1,200, or slightly slower at say 1,400 or 1,500 calories per day (the actual number would depend on how much you burn). On the other hand, is 1,200 calories per day making you tired, cranky, or at risk or…

 I found this very funny. Good luck OP! I've also been losing weight with lots of walking as my main exercise - the trick is not to undereat, so you have enough energy for walking, and not to overeat, so you are still losing weight.
-
Wow. For comparison, I've been dieting for over six months now and I've lost 22 pounds. 38 lbs in three months is incredible.

Hi Lahrysa, It might be useful to know more about your situation. Have you got access to a fridge? Freezer? Cooker? (These are not sarcastic questions at all - lots of people don't have access to some or all of those things, and it makes eating on a budget more difficult). Are you cooking only for yourself, or for a…

I am also at what I consider my I between weight - I lost 22 pounds in half a year. Some of my old clothes still fit me, some are me definitely too big. Charity shops (that's what we call them here in the UK) have been really useful as source of cheep clothing. My best advice is look for clothes bundles on eBay. I was…

Love feta, especially when crumbled into "warm salads". My favourite is a combo of puy lentils, steamed broccoli, other steamed green veg (green beans or asparagus work well, so does kale), and dressing made with mustard and honey. Then crumble some feta into it when still warm - wonderful stuff.

My Fitbit synching also starts adding calories from walking as soon as I'm past say 2,000 steps - but first in very small increments of about 10 calories here and there, so that's perfectly plausible to me. Compared to not moving at all, did I use another 50 calories if I walked about 2,000 steps? Of course, it makes…

5'5'', eating about 1,600 calories a day, losing between 0.5 and 1 pound per week. I'm a 40 year old woman.

I love my Fitbit, it has definitely motivated me to walk more and be more aware of how much I move. I also eat back most of my additional calories, and it hasn't stopped me from losing weight.

I think just skipping the fries and substituting them for a salad makes it a decent meal choice. You can go for a smaller amount of a strong cheese to maximise on flavour - last time I made mine, I used about 25g of extra strong cheddar. I also had a healthy coleslaw on the side (I mixed a couple of spoonfuls of deli…
