Great post, I am wondering the same. I want to add running g to my arsenal but I have a surgically repaired ankle (screws and a plate) and think I Ned to be as light as I can before starting. Not sure if I will ever be pain free but don't want to injure myself and derail my current workouts. For now I do biking,…

Personally, I think my scale(s) have brains and are just f'ing with me! LOL, j/k. I am sure it's a variety of factors and I do believe that, over time, it trends downward if the person is truly in a deficit. I'm gonna guess that water retention is the biggest culprit for different reasons (e.g., TOM for females, sodium,…

Love mine. I use electric and the old fashioned ones. They are a great way to make one pot meals for the week. I throw veggies, chicken or beef, a little rice, beans and seasoning in and presto! In about 30 minutes, I have a one bowl wonder! It really tenderizes meat. They are not dangerous. In fact, they won't open while…

I eat 1200 calories, weigh/measure everything, work out and don't eat back exercise calories. I lost about 50lbs in less than 4 months and now the scale has barely moved (relatively speaking) over the last month. I'm not a doctor or a nutritionist. I am not delusional and eating red velvet cake in my sleep. I can tell I am…

I LOVE my bike on my trainer. LOVE.

I am a shopaholic so I have pretty much everything: rower, elliptical, spinning bike, recumbent bike and my road bike on a bike trainer (it allows you to do virtual rides). I am able to do intervals on all of them. I have to say the spinning bike is the most fun to do intervals. And you can purchase Spinervals DVDs which…

Congrats, Miss HOURGLASS!!!

Sounds like a lovely vacation! Don't be surprised if the 3lbs drops off almost immediately. I have read many folks say this happened to them.

This. I lost more weight, kept more muscle and was happier with the balanced diet. It was so much easier when there weren't any foods that were off-limits.

I've done Atkins before and it works but wasn't as pleasant as a balanced way of eating. 30g of carbs is low and will limit the amount of veggies and fruit you can have. Hence, you might struggle to meet your fiber needs. 30% of my "diet" is carbs. I have nothing against carbs, I just choose to keep my protein up for…

Girl, get a grip, lol! It's OK. You can add me as a friend and check out my diary. There are plenty of options for breakfast and you may find that you are more satisfied with solid food as opposed to liquids. I am always hungrier if I drink my calories! Off the top of my head, Jimmy Dean makes some sensible breakfast…

Corection: Bodyfat also takes a long time before you notice a change. Many people weigh daily or weekly but measure themselves monthly.
-
Doesn't "seem" to be getting smaller? You should measure with a cloth tape measure. It takes time. Your diet seems okay to me. Not sure about the quantity since you're a male. Someone else can speak to that. Measurements take the longest to notice. Since you lost 7lbs (If I got that right) it sounds like you're doing…

Also, the almond and cashew milk I'm referring to are the lower calorie options. And I think they may already be vanilla flavored. I like my coffee to taste like coffee (not too light) so maybe you can reduce the amount of coffee so that less cream will still have that same level of coffee flavor. I used to only use half…

I used the plain powdered stuff (10 cals per teaspoon). If you are not allergic to nuts you can try Almond or Cashew Milk. They are 30 and 25 cals per CUP, respectively. You can add vanilla extract for 0 calories.

I love that "last supper" analogy. I did that many times. OP, I don't struggle with willpower when I'm dieting. I think that's because by the time I realize I need to lose weight I am so angry at myself I just stop cold turkey. That's what works for me but I realize that not everyone is that way. I agree with posters above…

I also read this (the 12 hour thingy) and have heard this for many years. I believe this is part of the reason why some recommended fasted cardio in the morning; to take advantage of this fat burning that is happening.
-
I had always heard/read this as well. I just looked on the internet and saw two opposing opinions, based on recent studies (within the last few years). One study, done on monkeys, says it doesn't matter. Another study, done on lab mice, said it does matter. I don't have a set time to stop eating but like to allow for 2-3…

I think fat is good. I try to keep my protein and fat high and am very satisfied on a limited calorie allotment. I woudn't worry about it. Assuming you aren't exceeding your calories, your slow weight loss may have to do with you having less fat to actually burn. That's why people with higher bodyfat %s can lose so much…

Haha, thanks! I'm not that great, believe me. I totally beat up on myself all the time. But I just keep going. We'll all get there eventually. I will check out thread. I see there ar a lot of posts there.

Okay, so message me. I want to know, lol.

What kinds of things do you do to push through it?

My experiences are the same but so many people on this site (and others) disagree with this. They say it's CICO. I'm not close to my goal (or even "normal" weight), I'm still at least 25-30lbs from where I have been most the past decade. I gained weight really fast after an ankle fracture. I'm very analytical and just find…

I work in NYC and my maintenance plan will include a bagel with cream cheese and smoked salmon every Friday. I already have it mapped out. All other days will be egg whites and/or oatmeal. I wish there was a bagel diet.

I completely agree! I was like "that couldn't have been a NY bagel because those are heaven on earth!".
