Hey Vismal, Every now and then you read and come across different techniques for achieving fitness goals to lose fat and build muscle and I would like to understand the concept better and would know your opinions on these whether they sound/seem plausible or futile. 1. Pairing Strength Training (5x5) (3x a week) with HIIT…

Hello again Vismal, Here's a quick run through of my journey again. 5'10 M, 21 July' 14 - 212 lbs (Absolutely sedentary, Roughly 40% BF, little muscle - did plenty of cardio, 1400 cal diet ) Nov'14 - 168 lbs (Roughly 25% BF, lower fat, started 1500 cal diet, quit gym for two months) Jan'15 - 160 lbs (Roughly 22% BF, quite…

Exactly. Just have to keep on believing.

Hello everyone, I made this post 7 weeks ago, so here's my progress and observations so far. Like I had mentioned I have had significant fat in certain areas due to my weight loss regime. When I joined back the gym in January I was 160 lbs, and looked rather thin (shoulders, calves, back etc). So I spent 8 weeks since then…

Absolutely not Sarah, I just checked after weeks lol. Congrats on your progress! I can relate a lot. Strength training seems to be working great.

Haha. Three halves often refer to three pieces (in figure of speech). But mathematically speaking three parts* , my bad :)
-
Haha well not everyone is open about this kind of approach.

Thank you everyone. The wall has a sign on the first line that says its long. You scrolled to find out mate. :)

Here's my before-after. The before pic was taken while I was exhausted (and tanned) during a college trek. Seemed fitting. I'll post a shirtless one once I get a six pack out :D

Great, informative answer, thank you very much. I've shred 52 pounds and now I am striving for a sculpted mid-section (and everything else really!) like you.

Hey Vismal, I noticed your skinny and fit images are both at 195 lbs. So did you cycle between bulking and cutting to get there? If yes, how long do your cycles last? I am curios to know what would happen if you lift at your maintenance. (For a beginner). A video by Scooby's says you can gain muscle and shape…

Thank you for your responses everyone. It's hard to describe it but I have become a little scared of losing fat further (before gaining muscle). I'll try posting a shirtless picture soon but you can picture me as a fairly lean guy with around 15% fat in most of my upper body. But right when you come down I have this pooch…

Well that's me at 212 pounds (sad) back in June and at 160 pounds this month  52 pounds. 2 T-Shirt sizes, 8 inches off the waist. Currently going for muscle building.

Hi again Vismal, I watched the video series. Was really great, thanks. I had mentioned earlier how I have become a little skinny fat. At 163 pounds, 5'10 (after losing 50 lbs). So according to your suggestions, the videos, in the past week I have started with the following: Primary Workout: Ice Cream Fitness 5x5 (3 days a…

Thank you Vismal for taking the time for those great answers. If I may, I'll like to trouble you with a few more from your experiences. Q1. Since you were a obese guy and started seeing results in a couple of weeks, did you ever get into into that rush to get rid of all that fat? By over-training or going for bigger…

Congratulations! Great transformation indeed. I have a few questions, it'll be a great favor if you (or others) could help me on these: So about me: Male, 21, 5'10 Waist - 32 inches Current weight - 160 lbs I was touching obesity at 212 lbs and had a lot of body fat (man boobs, love handles and everywhere else), little…

Great post thank you. I have a few of questions and your weight change profile seems relateable to mine. So it'll be a great favor if you (or others) could help me on these: So about me: Male, 21, 5'10 Waist - 32 inches Current weight - 160 lbs I was touching obesity at 212 lbs and had a lot of body fat (man boobs, love…

Yes they have. Atleast in longetivity. I feel less tired going through the day at college.

Glad to know that we shared the same rush towards our goal. And congrats to you too for the achievement, especially since you were determined to fight off prediabetes! Kudos.

Thank you for the appreciation everyone. I'd like to share two, less usual tips that helped me remain interested in working out (for those of you wanting to loose weight) 1. Make and maintain an awesome playlist on your phones/music player while working out. 2. Try all kind of exercises, whatever you read/come across. You…

Thank you, excellent advice. Yes, I'll fill my details up soon.

About the first part, hah not really. It's just that I've grown conscious of the calories on my plate by habit. And yeah that part is where it's confusing. My TDEE is in the range of 2400-2800 (depending upon exercise). My BMR now is 1750 odd. Right now I am eating 1600-1700 (increased from 1400 odd earlier), so should I…

Thanks for the tip! I think I am in starvation mode. Should I progressively be eating a lot more? Any suggestions for the calorie target?
