I am a Type 1 diabetic and last July at my Doctor appointment, my labs were really bad. I was 219.5 pounds, my A1C was almost 8.0 and my LDL was 101. I was having wide swings in my glucose levels. I started using MFP on July 7th 2014. I have now been maintaining a weight of about 160 since February. Total weight loss, 59.5…

For me, getting fit had more to do with my lab results after a doctor appointment early July 2014. Weight loss wasn't an original goal, but rather getting my labs in order. I was 47, 219.5 pounds, and as a Type 1 diabetic, had an A1C of almost 8.0, an LDL a little over 100. I was having wide swings in my glucose levels,…

Thanks for your service. I was 9 years Army, am 48 years old, and a Paramedic for the County Department where I live. I was 219.5 on July 7, 2014. I have been successfully maintaining a weight of 160 for about 10 weeks now. I'll never run as fast as I did in my military days, but I feel really good exercising again. MFP…

I have a daughter getting ready to start nursing school. I am a paramedic and used my job as a reason for not following a proper diet. Like you, I finally made up my mind that I had to do it. I started July 7th, 2014. I weighed 219.5. I have faithfully logged my calories all but one of those days. I try to be honest in…

My wife would tell me when I started using myfitnesspal, that it cost too much to eat healthy. Truth is, it really doesn't. I can get a 5 pound bag of apples at Walmart for $2.99 or a bag of Dorito's for $2.69. Just be conscious of the foods your selecting and if you shop early, you can find sales on meat's, the more lean…

I started July 7th, 2014. I was 219.5, which a 5"7" was a lot. I just stuck with it, and wighed in a week ago at 160, which I figure to be an ideal weight. My wife is doing it and has lost weight every time she weighs in. My son has done the same. I would say that no matter how much you've lost when you weigh, and there…

I bet you could do a 10k. Just set a pace that's slower than your 5k and keep going. Like barryplumber said, the worst case is you have to walk some. I'll bet you surprise yourself though. A runner friend told me, as I've been getting ready for my first ever race, that training and running is always different. He's a lot…

I'm 48, and lost 60 pounds to get to what I think is a good weight for me. Everyone is different, but your on the right track not waiting until your my age. As far as surgery, I think over time the skin should tighten up. Your doctor would have a better answer. I haven't talked to mine yet either, though.

I generally don't eat back the calories, but I have had to increase mine to maintain my current weight. I'm still exercising a lot, but it's too early to tell if I'm going to need to up my calories more. As long as I wanted to lose though, I kept with the recommended daily intake.

I log, and know exactly how you feel. It does suck sometimes, but a necessity for me to hold myself accountable.

I appreciate it. So, I should be okay to try this until my next weigh in. I generally weigh every three weeks. Thanks again for the advice.
