I have just two things I changed. 1. I dropped the all or nothing mentality. One bad choice or meal no longer derails me. 2. I am not on a restrictive "diet". I eat what I want within my calorie limit. Sometimes that means healthy foods but it regularly means chocolate, and frozen yogurt too.

Just a few things - 1. I think disliking counting calories is fairly normal at least at first but the basic foundation of practically every diet out there boils down to calorie reduction... 2. I eat out anywhere. I just look at the menu beforehand and come up with a few options. If I know I am going out I also make sure to…

There were a few things.* I went to give blood and had borderline high blood pressure at only 33. My uncle had also had a heart attack in his early 40's. * I had no energy and lots of body aches. * I love hiking and could not longer do it. * I did not like looking at pictures of me and my girlfriend and being so much…

I will totally second everyone that talked about New York and Co. I love them. The great thing about that stores is they consistently carry the tall, average and petite of every size. So once the average of a particular size got too big but the average of the next size down was too small the petite worked perfectly. Plus…

glutenfreegoddess.com texanerin.com I second Elana'a Pantry and Gluten Free on a Shoestring too. Those are great sites.

Yep. This is my biggest reason too. So much easier to stay in deficit.

Plotting to take over the world one forum at a time... Lol

I think certain personality types gravitate towards online forums... I'm INTJ.

I have the same problem when I get glutened accidentally. I have celiac disease. When it happens I don't adjust my calories at all. I would love to hear what others say. I just figure that it is usually such an isolated event that when looking at the bigger picture it just doesn't impact my deficit enough to make a big…

You might want to look into intermittent fasting. I follow the 16:8 schedule where I skip breakfast altogether, eat about 500 kcals for lunch, eat dinner, and sometimes a snack. All of my calories are consumed from about noon to 8:00. It really works for me.
-
I've read up on IF but never seen any IF schedule like what your husband is proposing... I don't think that is sustainable. What is his reasoning? I really like the 16:8 plan. I've been doing it fairly consistently now for about six weeks.

We are getting ready to move across the country, while I finished up a school year, and am job hunting. I realized today that a major win for my weight loss is that I am learning how to deal with stress better. Instead of eating or drinking my feelings I am being super active and productive. Plus, working out regularly…

That is a lot of liquid calories. I do better when my calories come from food I chew. (Sorry I realize the wording sounds funny.) I tend to do protein shakes just once a day if at all. The calorie count is what matters the most for weight loss. I wouldn't restrict myself to just certain foods like that.

I can send you the best blogs for recipes.

Love this comment! And true with one of my cotton dresses from New York & Co.

Short answer - no. (I do worry a little about my teeth and the enamel getting eaten away by carbonation...) Giving up diet soda will not result in 10 pounds of weight loss like the internet a say... Satan has horns right?!

Amazing!

The temptation never really outweighs the consequences for me... Eating gluten leaves me miserable for two or three days. It is never worth it! I have learned how to bake and cook just about anything I might be tempted by anyway. Are you just newly diagnosed?

You have to try the yogurts there! There is something different about how they make them. Danone coco was my favorite. Try the citrus fruits. Best oranges I have ever had in my life. I'm getting jealous that you are going now.

I lived in Spain for two years but I was in Cadiz in the southwest. I suggest you hit up the markets rather than going to the restaurants if you want to eat clean. Typical Spanish cuisine is delicious but they hide olive oil in everything, slather mayonnaise thick on sandwiches, serve bread with everything, and drink quite…

The heat is not bothering me nearly as much as it used to. (New Orleans and it has been in the 90s for a few weeks now.)

Sometimes I will make "sangria". I will do like 3 oz of wine with crushed up fruit in the bottom of the glass and diet sprite. One of my favorites is three or four raspberries and a little bit of chopped peach in some kind of white wine. My motive when doing this to be able to stretch that one or two glasses of wine to…

Or... I think to myself 400 calories for the weekend. Score!

I have a Fitbit Flex. I've had it for about five months and I really love it. Initially I had to get over it not being totally accurate and realize that while not 100% accurate it is very motivational. It has become a really easy way to monitor my activity levels. It helps me to fit extra workout minutes in throughout the…

I like Kirklands Guatemalan whole bean. (Costco) I have also recently gotten hooked on some of the coffee concentrates to make iced coffee. I LOVE Coolbrew concentrate.

I really like the Leangains/16:8 method better. I stop eating at night at 8:00 pm. I skip breakfast and eat lunch at 12:00. I do that Monday - Friday and take Saturday and Sunday off. I haven't read up on the "science" behind it enough to see if it is legit or not. I simply do IF because it helps me manage my deficit more…

I had not thought of that aspect. Yeah. I could see that having the friend connection would be helpful.

I am honestly curious about why you would bother with MFP if you weren't tracking? Is it just for the forums or articles? I guess the weight graph tracker?

"If you just stop drinking diet soda you would lose ten pounds."
-
I have lost about 65 pounds so far. (I am smaller than I was in 6th grade.) I was sitting in a meeting and noticed that I was crossing my legs. I have never been able to that before. I was happily surprised!
