I would definitely get a food scale. It is so easy to overeat and not know it.

As a rule I don’t eat mine. I choose not to for a few reasons. 1. I think the number of calories burned is overestimated and somewhat unreliable. 2. I know that various food items are going to come up throughout the week that won’t be easily measurable/weighable. I’ll estimate that cookie from the break room, or that…

I went to Kohls today and was able to shop in the regular section. Everything from the plus side was toooo big!

I don't keep anything binge-able in the house. That way if I really want it I have to get up and go buy it. When I buy a treat I buy a single treat or the smallest pack. A single Snickers - not a pack of fun sized. I'll go to a bakery and get one slice of cake instead of buying or baking a whole one. Eat treats regularly…

Nobody tells you that because you are eating at a deficit you have to be careful or you may develop various trace mineral deficiencies over time. ( I've ended up with low iron and a magnesium deficiency.)

Fully submersing my body in the bathtub is awesome.

I drink two glasses of room temperature water in the morning. (Room temperature water gets absorbed faster since it does not have to warm up.) Chase the water with your morning coffee. It takes about a half hour. Don't eat breakfast until later as eating prevents your stomach from releasing the water right into your…

My calories logged in MFP are syncing with my Fitbit but not any of my steps.

I've been at about 215 most of my life. I've gone as high as 242 before and as low as 170 before. Most of the time though I am going up and down between 220 to 200 and then back again... I've lost that twenty pounds about four times in the last six years. How to not be Oprah and Marie Osmond?! I've made some changes within…

I get chicken tacos, black beans, no rice, just a little sour cream, with the pico. Pretty reasonable. I usually eat two of the three tacos. You CAN eat healthy there.

I pound it out to help it cook faster and more evenly. (No burned dry edges with a raw middle...)

I have an aerobic step in front of my tv and do that instead of snacking.

I like the morning each month where they bring in free bagels...

I just had a bunch of fried Chinese food. First cheat day in a month.

Whiskey? That is my go-to if I have an extra 100 or 2.

Cheese. Lower calorie cheeses taste gross. Regular cheese is about 100 kcals a slice. :(
-
I've been looking at workout apps. I'm eyeing Carrot Fit or doing the Fitstar through Fitbit. Anyone tried either one?
-
Don't they have nearly 500 kcals in a cup? I love them but don't eat them very often.

I like to slow cook chicken until it shreds easily for tacos, sandwiches or salad. Slow cook it in salt, pepper, water, and lime juice. It takes about 4-6 hours on low.

I love to do a variation of a mule with diet ginger ale, lime, and either vodka or whiskey. (Moscow mule with vodka or the Irish mule with whiskey.) Your only calories come from the liquor and a few from the squeeze of lime.

I search for healthy recipes on Pinterest. Lots of good stuff always comes up.

Yeah. I think you are totally right. I've "lost" 10 pounds this week but I guarantee that most of it was water. Holidays with my mother-in-law means crazy amounts of Salt...

You mentioned managing your time. That is something that I struggle with too. To combat not having time during the week I do a lot of meal prep in the weekends. Prepping on the weekends has help free up time both in the mornings making lunches to take to work and the evenings. Now I just grab whatever Tupperware I had…

Fage greek yogurt instead of sour cream. Wraps instead of sandwiches. (Most tortillas are 100-120 kcals, bread for two slices is almost always around 200.) I really like the Smartbalance mayo instead of the full fat mayo. Halotop icecream! Most flavors are pretty good.

I've tried all sorts of intervals... I've been a daily, weekly, and monthly weigher. Weighing daily helps me stay on track, and provides more data. Weekly work ok but in the end I really wanted more information. Monthly just didn't give me a clear picture of my progress and it was too easy to have high calories days and…

The AllTrails app is free and will find hikes near you. I live in Phoenix and bought this book when I moved here: "Take a Hike Phoenix". It has a lot of great hikes!

If you check the labels and calorie count on special gluten free products they often have more calories than the gluten products... I have celiac disease and can't understand why you would choose to have to buy products that are more expensive, more calorie dense, and often taste worse than regular products. BUT thank you…

That's good to know.

If it is caffeine free I count it as water. Caffeine is a diuretic and dehydrates you. Passion tea alone has no caffeine.

I average about 6 drinks a week. (Irish Mules with whiskey, lime, and first ginger ale.) The problem for me is not the amount of calories in the alcohol itself but the snacks I tend to want afterwards... If you budget for it you can still lose.
