Bloody Mary. It's practically a V8. Disclaimer: I have no idea how many calories are in a bloody Mary, but I'm sure it's less than a margarita.

I order a tequila soda with a splash of pineapple juice (so you get the taste but not all the sugar you would with only juice). You can also do it with vodka and cranberry juice. Fruit juice packs a lot of sugar and calories and all you really need is a splash.

    Whiskey/vodka & soda
G&T with diet tonic water if available
Classic Martinis are pretty low. Probably ~100 cals per
Champagne cocktails also tend to be lower- try a French kiss or a Kir Royale

As a rule, I would avoid anything very fruity or very creamy. They tend to be the calorie bombs in my experience. Stick to the simpler cocktails with two or three components and opt for diet mixers where you can.

Vodka's your best base!! Seconding the Bloody Mary suggestion.

Alternately, I like to order champagne-based cocktails - as they get me so tipsy I can't manage more than two ;)

    Sidenote: drink responsibly ;)

Gin Rickeys! Just gin, club soda, and a lime wedge. I LOVE gin (especially gin & tonics, but the tonic water gets you with the calories). I was surprised at how similar the two drinks tasted (woo!) but you taste more of the gin in Gin Rickeys than g&ts.

Jack and diet coke, only really get the calories of a shot of Jack then which is about 65.

Hard liquor with diet soda or sparkling water. I like Captain and Coke Zero or Diet Coke, or vodka and sparkling lime water.

Vodka soda is my go to.
I do enjoy a good cocktail (not just a vodka soda - a craft cocktail from a good bartender). To me it's worth the calories for one on occasion.

I typically go for Vodka and club soda with a splash of water flavour (I carry it with me) and if I forget it...cranberry juice.

    If no soda diet sprite

    Wine
Light beer, Guinness (or stouts with lower alcohol content)
Vodka and diet soda of choice
Vodka and club soda with fresh citrus, a dash of pomegranate juice, or some muddled berries and basil
Martinis - gin or vodka and vermouth. dirty or not.
    Bloody Marys
Micheladas, depending on how they're made
Bellinis or mimosas if you're just using a little juice or fresh pureed berries with minimal sweetener

Captain Morgan or regular rum and diet coke/pepsi with a a lime is my regular go-to. Sometimes I'll have a gin & soda with lime.

Mexican Water, the weight loss incomparable ;-)

Vodka, soda water and lime juice is the best.

I have a juicer at home and when I want to make cocktails I just a bunch of fruits and then throw vodka in there for the win!

Vodka soda with a twist of fresh lime

+1. In grocery stores they now have something called Truly Spiked and Sparkling (spiked sparkling water). Tastes just like vodka and soda with lime and it also comes in different flavors. 100 cals/bottle.

I'm not much of a drinker, but I'll usually have a shot of good tequila or a Coors Light. Hubby drinks gin and diet tonic w/ lime.

I love to do a variation of a mule with diet ginger ale, lime, and either vodka or whiskey. (Moscow mule with vodka or the Irish mule with whiskey.)

Your only calories come from the liquor and a few from the squeeze of lime.

vodka soda with lime and a few dashes of bitters for me - the bitters really make a difference if you like them!

That would be high in calories...all that fruit...

Bartender turned me on to flavored vodka and soda water. About 90 cals per *kitten*, a little flavor, and carbonation. I've stuck with this drink for 3 years now lol
