I thought I had the virus/ upper respiratory infection going around - lingering cough for two weeks and tight chest. I ended up in the ER with a pulmonary embolism. If it doesn’t go away or get better with rest, go get it checked!

I will say “Oh, no, thank you” or, if I feel they went out of their way to make something especially for me or because they knew I always enjoy ______, I’ll say “Just a small bit, please”. And then I’ll eat my few bites without guilt. I think this is a time of year where people equate food with love - wanting to bake/cook…

Im also 5’4” and am currently at 138lbs (down from 163lbs in May). I do not weigh my food, but I’m getting the results I wanted (my goal was 140lbs, too). If I’m unsure of something, I look across MFP and select the choice that falls in the middle/higher end. If I wasn’t seeing results after three weeks, then I would…

That's fantastic she's getting into running! There is definitely a difference in running an 8k vs a 5k -- almost a 2mi difference-- and it's noticeable for first timers :) I agree with mitch16! Definitely make the focus less on her safety and more on you needing her help to get yourself across the finish line. If she does…

It's all about you - something will click, the pieces will align, and you will do IT. Hopping onto MyFitnessPal is a great start :) I've been called "fat" by complete strangers in public. It cuts like a knife.

Stress AND bored eater here! I used to eat out all the time just to have a few minutes away from my desk. I make an effort to now to pack my breakfast and lunch every day. If I plan to go out to eat with coworkers, I ensure I pack a slightly larger breakfast and two snacks (almonds, fruit strip, granola bar, string cheese,…

The Fitness Marshall! He's on YouTube -- some are harder than others, but if you do a few in a row you'll start to feel it :)

I bought a little black dress that was originally $200 for $12, but it was a tad too tight. FOUR YEARS LATER, I can finally fit in it, and it looks really good! Now I just need an occasion to wear it ;)

It's so frustrating, especially when you are on a roll! I injured my foot last year and was on crutches/aircast for two months. I was so worried about re-injury that -- even when I was cleared -- I did not work out for another four months. What got my butt back in the swing of things was seeing a picture of myself. That…

I usually step on the scale during the week and avoid during weekends. My Fitbit automatically averages my weight each week so I can see the progress despite the day-to-day fluctuations-- this average is the number I care the most about and what I would recommend doing if you want to step on it every morning!

Blackberry cucumber! Although I'm also really enjoying Dasani's Blood Orange and White Peach sparkling waters, too -- definitely worth a try!

Thank you, all! I have my PT appointment tomorrow and have been doing some light stretching every day, throughout the day (after icing). Thankfully the constant pain has subsided!

Every day is a new chance! I recently ate a family-sized bag of chips in one day, felt guilty, then felt guilty when I no longer felt guilty, etc. Things happen! And since they don’t happen every day, that’s when you feel bad when they do! Use that feeling to make mindful choices this weekend :) Wishing you the best!

Met with my PCP, going to referral appt with PT next week! It's ice, rest, and ibuprofen til then! Thank you all for the tips. I've been considering the foam roller, but I'm bracing for the stars I know I'll be seeing! :) It's been most painful at 2am after sleeping in the same position for hours. I'm not too sure there's…

As someone said to me when I was starting out: "A mile walking or a mile running-- it's still a mile either way!" Three minutes of jogging is fantastic, but focus more on endurance/distance, then build up the speed :)

Chicago here, too! My absolutely favorite running item has been a freebie from the Shamrock Shuffle a couple of years ago -- it's the fabric band on the top right. This thing can be an earband, a hat, a neckwarmer, or (my fave) a lightweight face mask. It's a lifesaver! Chicago does a pretty good job keeping the downtown…

This has been one of my favorite threads to check :) Down 15lbs in three months!

I had a similar issue with mine. After some Googling, I found out it's because I store it on a shelf. If you move the scale at ALL between weigh-ins, you'll need to step on it 4-5 times before you get an accurate measurement (the first number to come up is usually the from last scale reading...). If you don't move it, you…
