I've been on low carb/keto for 2 weeks now. I stopped counting calories at meals and just count carbs. When I log my food in MFP I've found that it's very difficult to reach the calorie level I should. I don't get hungry and don't get shaky or faint like I do sometimes on low calorie. So far this has been good for me.

Last night I seared two pieces of salmon in the pan then baked it. While the salmon was baking I cooked some fresh green beans in fresh garlic, fresh onions, and almond flakes. It was all delicious and topped out at about 600 calories.

Interesting thread, along with the comments insinuating the person eating 15 slices of pizza at one sitting is mentally challenged someway. Some people come from a time when there wasn't enough to eat most of the time and we developed a childhood tendency to eat until you couldn't when you could. The never-ending plate at…

Again, many thanks for all the input. What a valuable resource these discussion boards are! To answer a few questions that have been asked, I'm 5'7" and want to get back to 165 lbs. At last year's anniversary I weighed 222. I've average losing between 1 and 1.5 pounds a month with MFP. At my current rate, It'll take me 3…

Wow... I'm overwhelmed by all the comments. Thank you! TheodoraLenihan, I'll be 58 this year. At my current weight and level of energy, I can't imagine coming close to your routine.

So I should expect no more than a pound a week? 47.2 pounds over 175 days comes to 1.888 pounds a week. Can it be done? Is it safe to try and lose this amount of weight over this period of time?

Yesterday I weighed 209.2. I logged in here and checked the last time I "checked in." It was about 5 weeks ago and I was 209.5. So, I'm still losing weight. About a 1/4 pound a month it looks like. Let's see, that's 3 lbs. a year. At this rate it's going to take me 17 years to reach my goal. Well... they do say it's better…

Word of warning - Applebees salads are steeped in calories. Couldn't believe how many calories were in my grilled chicken salad last night.

Went about 80 calories over yesterday. No weight change.

My daily calorie limit is 1500. I'm on a 2-day streak!

Back again after being back again, and again, and again, and again. Nothing much has changed. I'm at 210 today after renewing my diet for the umpteenth time. Still want to be 165 by the end of the year. Still going to try.

57 here. Been a member losing and gaining back and forth forever it seems. Degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, 2 bulging discs, sleep apnea, arthritis, hemochromatosis, Factor V Leiden, glaucoma are my major ailments. Oh, and I’m 50 lbs overweight. I’ve got to give my self a chance to see how much the extra weight…

So.... 7 1/2 months and I'm back again. I remind myself of a diet book my mother used to have on her bookshelf. It was titled "how I lost 30,000 pounds. Of course, the story of the writer was that she would lose weight and then gain it back. I topped out at 222 this last time I fell off the wagon. I'm at 210 today.…

Climbing back in the saddle after a 2 1/2 month leave. That's my worst problem (not being able to stick to this.)

At 1700 I'm still supposed to lose weight. Not happening. I'm up another pound today. Back to 212.
-
Lunch wasn't light enough. Lol. Dinner was within limits. Another 1700 day. Myfitnesspal says I'll still lose weight at this level but I might not live long enough to reach my goal.

6 miles a day? Dang, I'd call that intense training if it were me!
-
I blew my 1500 calorie a day diet by 200 calories yesterday. After that "plate special" I had for lunch yesterday, we fixed homestyle chicken and dumplings for dinner last night. I suppose I should be glad it was only 200. Didn't weigh this morning. Back to a light brunch today.

Welcome to the group @catmomfat ! "The more you lose, the harder it becomes" is the natural course for everyone. What I'm about to suggest is a general example of how it works. The numbers can vary significantly from one person to the next, but it works the same for all of us... If you are completely sedentary (no…

No, that was for Nikion901. And welcome to our little group here! Thanks for your posts!

Carrots would work for me too @rdevol ... You know Nikion901, I'm not a muncher either. Don't snack between meals and I'm not hung up on sweets either. Not that I don't enjoy them if I'm offered, but left to myself I don't crave sweets and don't search them out. I was 211.0 again this morning. No movement at all. My wife…

I understand. My hematologist tells me to carry a bag of celery with me and munch from it all day. Might give it a try. Finished the day under 1200. I want that pound gone.

What are the "certain carbs"?
