What on earth is a stomach vacuum? Sounds like something to make yourself sick
-
Sounds frustrating. But glad you're feeling better about things now.

I enjoyed tonight. Squats: 5x5 @ 62kg - felt good with these, though I worry about 'butt wink' at one point. Working on opening my chest and taking a deeper breath seemed to help. Bench - 5x5 @ 28kg I did this in an incline bench with two 14 kg DBs today. Oooft. Every time I started a set there would be a moment when the…

Hurray

ooh, NaNoWriMo, good for you two - I did that years ago. Satisfying, but hard work! I feel I still don't know enough about what I CAN lift to set specific weight goals, so: 1) Keep lifting three times a week 2) Get out on my bike three times - I've been getting lazy as it's got colder 3) Stretch more. Yoga? 4) Lose two…

Oh dear, sorry about the confusing title. November 5th is Guy Fawkes Night, though I think it's mostly just called bonfire night these days. Guy Fawkes tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament in 1605. So ... (hmm, UK folk, feel free to correct this!) we have bonfires with 'guys' on them - effigies of Fawkes - and lots of…

Ah, yes, poor Kaitlyn. Friends with children - and dogs - all say the same. And in Edinburgh we have fireworks all summer, with the festival and the tattoo! Hope they fizzle out after Thursday. Good workout, btw! I love how much you love deadlifts

Have a great holiday, @DawnEmbers! And the big question - did you ever find shoes?!
-
Ha - re the thread title, do you even celebrate Guy Fawkes in the US/ Canada? It can be the Thanksgiving thread for the US. What does Canada do in November?

So - the people at the gym were all fine, but the building itself was annoying me. It shakes! I switched squat racks after one set because the first one was trembling so much from the people running on treadmills nearby. I need all the steadiness I can get - having a mini earthquake going on doesn't help. And then later on…

Man, I had such a good session this morning and I feel great. I'm stuffing a giant tuna sandwich in my mouth as I type... messy. Squats - 61.5kg 5x5 - no sniggering, I have fractional plates and I'm gonna use 'em! My arms didn't hurt, either - I thought about @krokador's video in this thread and moved my hands as dipped…
-
I agree! I always smile when I see you've posted, @canadianlbs, and look forward to reading it
-
Well done, @krokador! That butt does not look fluffy
-
Thanks, @krokador, I'm going to give that a try

I'm starting to worry about these shoes, @DawnEmbers - not much time now!

Man, scales. My weight is going up, after a year of watching it coming down. Which is fine, really, as my measurements are going down and I feel good. But I've been focused on that number for a while and it's hard not to panic! I've read so many other people saying this that I feel a bit of a fool letting it bug me. But ..…

I just started with low bar a few weeks ago, shown by a trainer, and it does seem at first like it's not resting on anything. It's sort of - I think of it as where my wings would be, if I had some  So your arms do hold it in place against your back but your back does somehow support it. I think it'll be easier as my…

Usually double. I can do single comfortably with a 12kg, don't know about 16. I need an 8kg for an OHP or snatch, though! And for a turkish get up, though it's been a while since I tried one of those. Hmmm, maybe I'll give it a shot at the weekend! I have an 8kg and 12kg at home. (I'm especially fond of the 12, because…

Looks great! Cute phone, too

I've done a fair bit of kettlebell work in the past. I usually swing a 12kg but to be honest that's being a bit lazy and I should go for 16kg! As you're pretty strong then I'd say to look for at least the equivalent of that in lbs. Having said that... maybe better to go up gradually - the kb swing is pretty different to…

So ... Bench - 5x5 using 2 12kg dumbbells and an incline bench. Squats - 5x5 at 61kg. My wee legs were trembling a bit... Then bent over rows - 5x5 at 45kg - bit too easy Oh, and I did two sets of four pull ups with no assistance and felt great - and impressed by the sight of my own biceps in the mirror :-) I couldn't do…

I managed to go late morning today, thinking it would be quiet. Which it was, except for the squat racks. Grumble. One was taken by a slim young guy, who kept sitting down slumped against the rack for his rests, like a rag doll. Then up he'd stagger and do another set. And the other rack was being used by one of the gym…

Wow, look at the definition in your shoulders! Good work

Man, that's outrageous, @bluefish86 ! I think I'd have told him where to stick his f-ing opinions. In fact, I am, mentally, right now.

Today's workout: I'm sitting here at my desk squeezing a finger strengthening ball! My hands are really small and they're letting me down on the deadlifts, so I want to work on them. And yep, that's likely to be it for the day, other than a walk! Looking forward to the gym tomorrow though.

Hello, @TigerNY128 ! I'm pretty new here myself...
-
Squats - 60kg - 5x5 - the first one felt crazily heavy when I stepped back from the rack, but by the 5th set it was almost easy OHP - 20.5kg Yay for fractional plates. Still, I only did 5/5/3/4/4 Deadlift - 60kg. I did this last time, no problem, but today I only managed three - my hands just didn't have the strength! 2x…

Well, you learn something about yourself every day. I added my first 'friends' on MFP the other day, and that seemed very jolly, and then ... I suppose we all have our 'crazy' triggers and I found that seeing what other people are doing each day, scrolling up on my front page, was making me panicky. Am I doing enough? What…

Well done, that's brilliant!

Looks great to me! And glad your family is all ok
