  • For you to blindly believe that all the FDA studies you read are 100% legit is really telling. The FDA is made up of ex-monsanto employees. I don't have a scientific website to back up this claim, so it's probably "slanderous", but a number of books, articles and documentaries have stated this.
  • I have said absolutely nothing about food babe. You are the one who mentioned "food babe".
  • I see you all have taken care of my response for me...no need to respond with any sources. There are plenty of websites that say gmo are harmful. A simple Google search will show that, but of course they are not scientific enough to satisfy your requirements so why bother. All you guys have it all figured out. GMO is…
  • Yes I certainly can be of the "opinion" that GMOs are bad for you...it hasn't been proven 100% either way that they are safe or harmful, hence my stance of "I believe they are harmful". There are just as many studies that say they are harmful as those that say they are safe, so maybe you are "delusional" to think they are…
  • Oh how I love posting in these forums and getting wise crack responses for simply stating my opinions and beliefs. I feel like every post I make I must have fully cited sources...like being back in school.
  • I avoid GMO if I can. Do I end up eating them? Unfortunately yes because they are in almost everything and most are not labeled. I 100% believe they are harmful. Monsanto's glyphosate is in everything. I try to buy organic or GMO free if I can. Sure the government says it's safe, but it has come out that monsanto employees…
  • Not sure if you made a typo, but at 600 calories a day, plus vigorous exercise, your body is probably in starvation mode. Almost everyone has a BMR of at least 1000 calories (there are formulas to figure out your exact number).
  • Buy the big tub of rolled oats. 1/2 cup oats, 1 cup water, 3 minutes in the microwave. Then add whatever you want (banana, Walnuts, rasins, berries etc). Simple and you control the amount of sugar. I also add a splash of milk after its cooked so it's not so gummy/thick.
  • Relatively speaking you can't have too much vitamin c as it is water soluble and you will just pee out the excess. I wouldn't go out of my way to over indulge in it however. How are you getting your vitamin c? Naturally or suppliments?
  • How you can state my link isn't science based is beyond me. Every single fact is cited with sources linked to the actual study by colleges and doctors. So how is this not science based and your articles sources list Nutrasweet co. Employees as sources...makes you wonder....hmmmmm.
  • I agree that if you eat less calories than you burn you will lose weight. Depending on what you consume with those calories will determine if you are healthy or not. You say the vast majority of health issues rise from being over weight and not from not eating enough veggies? That may be true, but what caused them to be…
  • After posting in the forums for a bit, I have realized that my viewpoints really seems to go against the grain and cause great debate (not exactly sure why since I'm not forcing anyone to follow my opinions.) My opinions have been formed by talking to people (some of whom are in the medical field and science related…
  • https://usrtk.org/sweeteners/aspartame_health_risks/ I'm just going to leave this link here because science. And science is awesome.
  • The reason I mentioned the extreme is because many people here state that the cico is simply based on eating fewer calories that expended regardless of what it is. For argument sake I'll change my 'cheeseburgers' to the 'typical western diet' in order to leave room for variety. On the other hand, what is wrong with the…
  • I saw this thread 2 years ago, so it's nothing new to me. Nothing has changed. What I don't understand is why you (and others) feel the need to constantly try and prove your point that artificial sweeteners are safe? Ok...they are safe. I'm not trying to prove they are dangerous. All I've stated is that I choose to not…
  • You can go ahead and consume all the artificial sweeteners you want...doesn't matter to me one bit. Go for it and enjoy them. I'm not judging and I'm not saying you shouldn't drink them. I'm simply stating that I'm not going to consume them. My opinion is not going to change. I've read enough studies against them and…
  • This makes a lot of sense. I'm beginning to realize that we agree on more than I thought, just have different ways of expressing it. When I say I like to avoid a certain type of food, I generally mean I try to not eat it and will choose a different option if available, but do eat it on occasion (hfcs...I won't buy products…
  • I do see your point. I do agree that general weight loss will improve those levels. I also personally believe that what you eat has an effect on those levels/health as well. I myself am not on a strict plant based diet. I try to keep a majority of my plate vegetables, fruit, healthy grains etc, but I also like chicken,…
  • To sum it up, yes you are right...they end up losing weight and end up with healthy markers across the board. Many of them start with high blood pressure, high LDL cholesterol, pre-diabetic etc, and by 10 days their levels start going down and by 30 days most are within healthy range. The purpose of the show is to…
  • I suppose in my head I do consider SOME procesed food to be bad. I say 'some' because some are not full of preservatives etc (cottage cheese, yogurt, oats, beans, cheese,to name a few). I realize that just about everything bought in a grocery store is processed in some way. If it has a bacode, it's pretty much…
  • There is a tv show on the Z Living Network called Big Fat Truth. It's pretty interesting because they put "unhealthy" people on a plant based diet for 30 days and you get to see the transformation. They have plant based recipes on their website. https://www.zliving.com/food/recipes
  • I really appreciate you taking the time to explain your viewpoint in such a nice way. I really haven't heard the term 'ultra processed food' used before. I suppose this is the type of food I like to avoid...I just didn't know the right word. Thank you for your explanation. I realize that most of the food I eat are…
  • I don't have high blood pressure, but this statement really caught my attention. I could be completely wrong, but I thought too much salt RAISED blood pressure? Food guidelines recommend no more than 2000mg a day (on the high end), so how would 5000mg be healthy? I was under the impression that it was better to shoot for…
  • You guys are blowing this way out of proportion and taking things way to far (the chemical breakdown of a strawberry?....really?) I was saying from the beginning was that I view processed foods as those which have a lot of chemical additives and preservatives . I do not expect you to have to agree with me. It would be nice…
  • You guys really are insultive...very mature. I have beyond a college education so I am well educated. Can I actually pronounce the names, yes. Most educated people can differentiate between a chemical name and quinoa. You guys can continue to eat FDA chemicals because they cause no harm. I will continue to avoid them and…
  • Yes, sodium benzoate is easy to pronounce...that one came to mind because I knew if off hand and didn't have to look it up to spell it. Think of the old Bryers ice cream commercial with the little girl reading the ingredients. She reads the competition and can't pronounce the chemical names....she reads Bryers and reads…
  • So you're basically calling me uneducated because of my opinion? The question was what comes to mind when you hear processed food...? This was my opinion...why do you need to tell me my opinion is wrong? If you can tell me that things like sodium benzoate, food colorings (red 40, yellow 5 etc), butylated hydrozyttoluene…
  • I had hip arthroscopy last year...PT took a lot of time. I also read books (some nutrition books actually). I also got outside as much as possible, even if it was to sit outside and get some air/sun or crutch down the block.
  • Most of the advice given here should work to help you lose weight. I personally don't agree with artificial sweeteners being "safe" but that's a personal choice left up to the individual. I'm not saying you don't have a physical job, but you might want to bring your activity metric down a level. These metrics are computer…
  • Check out Skinny Taste...there is a really good chicken taco chili recipe.
