  • I would hold off. Buying a dress (or any clothing) too small is just an easy way to make yourself miserable. I bought a dress I wanted to get married in. It fit when I bought it--looked good even. Then, despite reasonable efforts, by the time we got married, the dress didn't fit. I still have it in a box somewhere. Last…
  • Yes and no. Any time you're in a close relationship of any type (spouse, parent/child, even good friends) there are going to be moments of frustration. However, this situation sounds like it goes beyond those occasional conflicts that are part of normal human relationships.
  • I understand your frustration. I went through something similar for years, not exactly that, but similar. Things got miserable. Finally I just gave up and we're divorced now. (I am not saying that will happen to you, just that it is what happened in my marriage.) Something is clearly bothering him. I hope things get better…
  • Yes, but half of what I save on taxes every year is better than none of it. Basically taxes and health insurance.
  • The above comments are all good questions. Being vegan has nothing to do with it, not sure why you brought that up.
  • I was thinking this sounded like the start of tiramisu. Tiramisu is amazing.
  • I use a small, metal nail file for my pole calluses. It keeps them from getting so thick they tear.
  • What exactly are you looking for? I would recommend getting some solid information on vegan nutrition. I recommend the books Vegan for Her and/or Vegan for Life, both written by registered dietitians who are also vegan. You can also see veganhealth.org and theveganrd.com for science based information on vegan nutrition.…
  • I've been vegan about 6 years, was ovo lacto for a while before that. I'm an ethical vegan, but not preachy. Feel free to add me.
  • Personally, I drink unsweetened soy milk which is very low in sugar (even lower than "original" which is often sweetened). But, if you really prefer dairy milk, or affording soy milk is an issue for you, you might ask your doctor whether that amount of sugar makes a difference. Also note, fortified soy milk is the only…
  • When I'm actually dancing continuously for multiple songs, I'll log it as dancing. When I'm practicing tricks, I'll log it as gymnastics. If you're just practicing spins, that's harder, maybe some sort of ballroom dancing (which is slower and assumed to burn fewer calories) or maybe moderate walk? I usually only log half…
  • It's not where I am from, but I live in Texas, U.S..
  • I use mine for dried beans, and rice. I also use it to make steamed sweet potatoes. I keep trying to make spaghetti in it, but it never quite works out right. It's edible, but kinda fussy.
  • Didn't log. Don't care, it's one day. Slept most of the day. Avoided most of the bad memories. Drank a fair number of calories. Didn't cry. Didn't scream at my mom on the phone. I'm calling it a win. ETA: I would have danced but my left shoulder is being pissy.
  • I strongly, strongly recommend reading a book on vegan nutrition written by a registered dietitian. A few good ones are: Vegan For Life by Norris and Messina Vegan For her by Messina Becoming Vegan: The Complete Reference to Plant-Based Nutrition (Comprehensive Edition) by Davis and Melina (be sure to get the updated…
  • Pretty much never. My husband tells me its because I have massive resting *kitten* face.
  • Personally, how I treat it depends on the length and intensity of exercise. A leisurely walk, no, unless it's really long. For more intense exercise, yes, I absolutely eat more to fuel my workouts and recovery. If I don't, I tend to feel crappy and not recover well from workouts, so the whole thing ends up being…
  • Mine too. :(
  • As mentioned above, changes in fluid intake, and whether the fluids being consumed contain electrolytes seems like a likely explanation. As do the questions above about any other changes you might have made about the same time (e.g. stress, longer workouts, less sleep). You might also look at whether the number of calories…
  • I'm a wife, a sibling, a child. And since you're asking, please don't buy me anything. There is nothing I need or want that I cannot get myself, so you're probably just wasting money and other resources. I'd love some quiet time or time together with loved ones. If you really must spend money make a donation to a charity…
  • NMA tends to be more moderate-to-high calorie, because it's a site for athletes. To keep calories at a lower level, watch the sauce you select, increase the greens, and decrease the grains.
  • And lower in protein (except the bean pastas), so pretty much the opposite of what you want. Lentil and bean based pastas tend to be higher in calories than whole wheat pasta, but they're higher in protein and fiber, so they pack a lot of nutrition into those calories. My local Target stocks Banza (chickpea pasta) at an…
  • I use the builder and then go through and replace the items that are wrong. It's not super convenient but it's better than the old one.
  • Although I disagree with GoldenEye_ about delicious vegan diets being difficult or requiring exotic spices, she does raise two excellent points. First, that it's easier to transition to a vegan diet over time, than to make the switch overnight. I know people who have done it, but in general, most people do better with…
  • I'm with you on the treatment of animals. I apologize if my comment seemed rude, it just seemed like an odd reason to go vegan, and one that would very likely result in you quickly abandoning veganism. Veganism helps animals and the planet, but based on the available science, isn't going to make you healthier.
  • I hate to sound like I'm discouraging anyone from going vegan, but...you're making your diet more restrictive, just because you want the challenge? Why not take on an actual fitness goal? That said, I'm an ethical vegan, so if you want to send me a request, go for it. I eat a mixture of "whole" and "processed" foods for…
  • This doesn't apply to the case of viral illness. If you have a viral illness, you should stay home and not expose other people. It's public health 101. Additionally, if you have a temporary illness (e.g. cold, flu, bacterial infection), exercise is not beneficial. What your body needs is rest.
  • Vegan. Though for recipes groups are probably better sources than vegan friends.
  • I don't think anyone mentioned lying. You can say, hey, this might happen, or this happened. It wasn't my idea, but the person showed up. I didn't touch them or interact with them, but I was there.
  • Booze, soda water, lime. Vodka, gin, and rum are common choices, whiskey works too.
