  • I add pasteurized egg whites or nonfat greek yogurt or cottage cheese and a scoop of protein powder to my smoothie each morning. As Kshama2001 mentioned bananas are higher cal, so I only add 40 grams then freeze other half for next day.
  • I also hope you will explore this site. There is so much wonderful knowledge and inspiration. I have found the 10 day challenges fantastic, the participants incredibly supportive and a chance to just comment on how you are doing daily. Maybe just read the site for inspiration, so many wonderful people are involved.
  • I am very sensitive to water retention. I eat a restaurant meal and 2 days later I gain 2-5 pounds which then takes several days to normalize. Push myself in Body Pump, by lifting heavier weights, plus 2 pounds. Noticing my body trends with bloat helped me deal with the scale fluctuations.
  • Last year I wanted to lose 10-15 pounds. I am barely still 54 and hard to believe perimenopausal, and certifiably hormonally screwed up as verified by my doctors. I was eating the recommended 1200 calories for the first month and began tracking my calories. After reading so much wonderful advice on this site I bought a…

  • I started spinning and biking several years ago after my knee decided it did not want to run anymore (diagnosed with little cartilage left). The orthopedist who treated me made several suggestions, one specific for spin, that if seated pedal a minimum 60 rpm. My husband and the doctor explained it has to do with torque,…

  • I have several pairs of athletic shoes though they serve different purposes. When I first started going to the gym I only had running shoes. • New jeans or gym gear. I bought a pair of weight lift gloves, after going to class so many times, proving to myself this was not just a fad. I splurged on the not on sale rack at TJMaxx for gym pants and have even bought a pair of lululemon tights when I reached a different goal. Well because now that I am spending more…
