And an answer appears whilst I'm asleep.^_^ Even a lot of British cooks like Nigella use all metrics in their recipe books now so that there aren't any discrepancies in their recipes. In the end, I can deal with oz, but cups...... I've never understood how you can measure butter accurately in cups.

On the fly, having to use a converter is a right royal pain in the kitten. I (and many other non-imperial system users) have learned to adapt after being on here for a couple of years, but for a person who's just starting out and getting used to logging, having to go out of the app or to a different website to convert…

Never, never again. Every time I see the game being played, I compare it to the good old days of Vanilla and BC and never even remotely wish to go back to it. Like @Gallowmere1984 said, the nerfs in Cata were the death of my love for the game.

You can also use the term 'ausnut' in your food searches (mainly for fresh ingredients). Ausnut is the abbreviated term for the 'Australian Food and Nutrient Database' (which btw, you can download and use for yourself in an excel file), and is our equivalent to the USDA entries. If I can't find a raw food (and some basic…

I'm sure there's a hipster detox kit available, comes with a sample pack of moustache wax. Guaranteed to only expel pop-trending toxins.

Maybe you can leash train one of your kitties and they can go on walks together :D

d'aaaawwwwwww. He certainly aint going to stay that little for long. I'm sure he'll always stay just as cute though, unless e's drooling on something. Actually, how does your cat like him?

All of this. They didn't recommend anything more than really short walks (or walking only on soft surfaces), to avoid jumping, or lots of running whilst they're in that first 12-18 month growth phase. For our wolfhound, he only had around the block walks or we took him to a doggy beach for the first year. American Staffy's…

I second David 'Avocado' Wolfe as one of the worst. Even if the man does advocate eating chocolate (which I'm all for) he seems to spend most of his time spinning on a unicorns forehead. I also put forward Yoni Freedoff as one of the best.

Ran my first HM on Sunday; the Sandy Point HM in Melbourne, AUS. It was a beach road run, which would normally be really nice, but it was wet and cold with a horrible headwind the last 8km or so. Finished in a slow and steady 2:29:15 with no walking which was one of my aims.

FYI, that is soooooo not the case for everyone. I find I function much better on a higher carb diet. What's good for the goose is not good for the gander and all that. The hubster and I are on a tight budget, so I literally plan out a months worth of dinners in advance to help with the grocery shop. That doesn't mean we're…

The sync goes both ways, so I'm not sure why it should be that way (if anyone does know, feel free to enlighten). I log my food in mfp, and all my exercise in fitbit (most of my cardio is running anyway, so the fitbit picks it up automatically).

Running the Sandy Point Half Marathon which is along a bay road in Melbourne, AUS on Sunday the 21st. Last taper run is tomorrow. It's meant to be 15C and raining on the day :(

If you're looking for a local store to buy some of the different ingredients, try the Japanese grocery stores list on JustOneCookbook. There are user submitted stores from all over the world

Unless you're making someone's eyes water with the smell of the 3 days of chilli, tandoori chicken and garlic foccacia you've been eating, I doubt beyond a bit of a smirk, no one cares. I mean, it's a natural bodily function. For me, after being the 160kg obese woman who cracked the seat on a rowing machine (thankfully,…

At 10 months, she's still developing quite a lot, so she'll definitely have good days and bad days as she grows. I wish I was running when my Irish Wolfhound wasn't such an old man. He barely walks a couple of k's these days without wanting a rest :( Our other dog wants to chase things too much to run well with me. I'd end…

Another 6'1-er here. SW 156kg / 345lb CW 99.7kg / 219lb GW 80kg / 175lb Although' I'm not sure if that will be the case though. I might keep going, I might stop earlier. Not sure, since my whole perception of having a large frame whilst I was obese was a little skewed. Very Cartman "I'm not fat, I'm big boned" kind of…

The main two pointers I would give are: - Use lots of colourful foods; if everything is brown, it's never going to look that pleasant, even if it's tasty. - Think about how you're placing things in the box. Try to make it look aesthetic and in a way that it will hopefully look the same when you open it as when you finished…
-
Generally if something is microwave safe (probably only without the lid on for gentle reheating) it should be ok in the dishwasher. I hand wash all my boxes though because I find if I keep sticking it in the dishwasher it slowly warps and the lid eventually won't fit properly. Can you take a legible picture of the bottom…

Maybe I'll have to get a mason jar and try a vertically layered bento. Hmmmm....

It's not even Friday in Australia yet.... isn't it still hump day in some parts of the world though? That might be why.

If you cut anything out of your diet without replacing it with something else, then you're automatically consuming less calories. Your statement would also apply if you replaced the words sugar/sugary/sweet with bacon.

I've heard a few people say good things about those; but they're hard to get in Aus, and when you can they're stupidly expensive for what they are (then again, the Clif blox are $6 a packet here anyway).
-
Your best bet is to try a few different ones on your runs to find one that suits you. I have a HM in September as well, and i'm currently testing the Hammer Gel, Clif blox & Gel and Gu gel (I want to try the Gu blocks, but I think the packaging will be a PITA when running). Some people are fine if they just stick to…

I think I should update this post - I'm now down 55kgs (with a login streak of 570 days), and although I'm still 20kg off goal, I'm eating at maintenance whilst I'm training for my first half marathon in September. Sometimes my bottomless pit of a stomach still gets me, but I'd say MFP is all in all a success :)

I love how you're storing the avo and rice crackers with the mason jar; that's awesome. I was trying to figure out how the Avo was defying gravity, then it clicked. I think the taller mason jars would actually be a really good way to store California or rice paper rolls, providing you don't pack them so tight you can get…

Del, I'm glad someone here was able to giggle at that. I kinda forgot that myxo'd rabbits were only an Australian thing. I've seen some awesome 3 tier boxes, but your issue is the reason I haven't bought them. I just add in snack boxes when I do want them, and leave them out when I don't. Otherwise I'm inclined to always…

Thursday bento. Today is a long run day, so extra protein. Meatballs in tonkatsu sauce, a bunny egg that looks like it has myxo, veg (cabbage, broccoli, carrot) and rice with tunamayo furikake.
-
Those devilled eggs look awesomely delicious! Why can't you get yourself a box of your own and make your lunch at the same time with similar fillings? I know at least one person on this thread who makes a bento for herself, the hubby and the kids all at the same time. Monday lunch looks like most of my lunches from last…

Totally agreed. To me, it just sounded like another trainer writing a piece that is structured in a way to make you want to pay for their training methods. What gets me is the bloated after-before photo...
