I would really like to echo those saying you must do it for *you* and no one else. Its really, really important. Love yourself and look after yourself. Otherwise, good luck!

Maybe he really loves her. Maybe he is hoping to refind that spark of attraction. Maybe, as @mbrown913 says he is just being completely honest, because he cares. Or maybe he is a complete a**hole and deserves to get the boot. Theres no one size fits all for these situations, and we are never likely to know what the real…

OK, I went through YouTube last night and subscribed to every channel mentioned. I started with Adriene at random, she has a 30 day programme aimed at beginners so I did day 1. I really like her style, nice and relaxed, kind of informal, so I think Ill stick with her for a while. And I have to say it exposed just how…

Awesome, thanks guys, I think Ill start having a look tonight

Thanks guys, hugely appreciated

I dont think thats the case with me. I think with me keeping it a little "casual" in my mind helps me get on with it. Were I to make a solid, absolute, committment? THAT is when it would all fall down and I would rebel. So Ive instead tried to build a routine, a habit, and then try to stick to that. KISS kind of thing.…

I dont know really, it just does. I have an idea of being fit, that Id like to achieve. Mostly because I never have been that way. I have children, not only would I like to be a good example to them, but I want to be able to keep up with them as well. Be active and have fun with them. Ive just come to the mindset where its…

Saw mention of it in another of your threads. Always a fan of your posting so thought Id check it out. Generally - Adherence. Ive never been a "fitness" person. Never enjoyed or been interested in working out. The year before last I had a wake up call my weight was out of hand, so dieted down to a good weight. Then I…

I quite like the Naked smoothies, but have found I prefer these: http://savse.com/product/super-green/ They have less calories, less sugar, more protein, and for me are tastier. Im all in for a smoothie if it fits your calories for the day - and its certainly an improvement on many alternatives!

Check out this guy http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/comment/36729348 Honestly if at all possible I would avoid it.

I totally get it, horses for courses. Im not judging my way as better or worse, just as "what works for me". My personality is such that weighing everything would really grind me down and have me say "forget it" with the whole thing, thats how Im wired. If I keep it a little more 'casual' (though I am very conservative in…

I think Im a lot like the OP. I know if I went to the degree of weighing everything it would really adversely effect my adherence. It would make the whole situation stressful for me and ultimately derail what I was doing. So instead I took to eye-balling 99% of things. If there was a packet of 4 chicken breast and I ate…

Ultimately Slimming World and Weight Watchers are based upon calorie counting, same as mfp. They weight the points to calorie dense foods, to encourage you to eat foods that are lower calorie, hence the "vegetables are 0 points". If I ate broccolli, carrots and cauliflower until I was fit to burst I doubt Id get through…

@wadwrich Im loving your attitude. I have never personally understood the surgery route, aside from being dangerous I dont see that it changes the flaws in the lifestyle that got someone into the position of needing it in the first place. I also see people say "Ive lost 70lbs so I can get the surgery" and I always think…

Generally this passes with time, as long as you stick to the program and exercise regularly. When I first squatted at the gym I couldnt walk the next day, the day after I squatted again and my legs were achy but not too bad, after the 3rd time I was basically fine.

I find quite naturally I dont eat a great deal of protein. Once I started tracking it was clear I was eating a lot less than I expected. I have since started using a protein powder to have pre-workout and make a concerted effort to go for protein rich foods. It may be you are similar.

Quite possibly! Full house!

I think "moralism" is meant to be like "More-ish". WHen you get the munchies, and want a little more... I could be wrong though. The breakfast thing I get. If I eat breakfast Im starving by mid-morning and likely to snack/eat a big lunch. If I dont eat breakfast my hunger just doesnt kick in and Im happy to have a moderate…

But puddings have sugar! :o

I did a Spartan Sprint last year, almost the same situation as you. Hit late April, complete fitness novice, and had until late Sep to be prepared. I focused on weight training mostly. Because I hated running, and liked lifting things. Having done the race I would not recommend that approach! I would certainly work on…

Those machines are well known to be far from accurate. As a general rule many people only eat back half of their exercise calories to compensate for this. Honestly Id take that 1010cal with a pinch of salt.

Ive been logging a long time now. And have allowed myself that treat many times before. What I found was that having had that donut, and then logged it, two things happened. 1) I didnt really enjoy it that much, it didnt seem worth the calories. 2) Later that day I had to pass up a much better treat because I didnt have…

Calorie estimates on cardio machines are notoriously unreliable, as are the body fat % on pretty much anything bar a DEXA scan. For example, a lot of bodyfat measuring tools use an electrical current which passes through you and measures resistance. How hydrated you are can massively effect its readings. I would use the…

I wouldnt like them, too bulky for me. I have some of these and they do the job very well:…

Maybe spending some time in the weights section of the gym will also be good for your psychii

I love working out around bodybuilders, guys and girls. I watch them all, look at their form, see what they are doing - and have learned tonnes in doing so. And at no point have I ever had any instance with them to feel belittled or anything, quite the opposite in fact.
-
Awesome! I think this is the point where you might need to consider yourself a runner
-
Just stick to the program, it works. You dont think it will, but it does!

Woo! Well done. How was it? Ready for more?
