Just a tip for salad dressing: If you dip the tines of your fork into the dressing (on the side), then pick up the veggies/lettuce, you will go through a lot less dressing, and it still tastes like there is lots of dressing on the salad! :)

I showed my husband these pictures. He said it's uncanny how similar we look!! You're taller than me though, I'm only 5'8"

1240 calories here. My diary is open if you want to check it out. I don't log my couch to 5k or insanity calories, or my 30 day challenge calories, because I have no idea how much I'm burning. As you'll see though, I usually have one meal a week where I go over for my calories, so I'm assuming it evens out. I try to eat…

Thank you, I really needed this today, and I'm going to write it out and put it up on my wall.

Awesome thanks. I've been avoiding nuts and beans because they have so many calories! I do have peas and chia seeds at home, so I will try them. I have rice every now and then, but am trying to avoid pretty much all other grains because of the calories also

Yes, I will be working on weight training soon! I want to lose a bit more, then I'll attempt Insanity again. I don't live near a gym, so I was also thinking of asking the family for a couple weights for my birthday. I have issues with my right knee, and squats often hurt, even though I know my form is good

Thanks for the article! Lol and it also explains why the backs of my thighs have gotten super dimply too!
-
Christina, we eat a lot of frozen veggies here too. Soup, curries, and veg fried rice are great ways to eat them :)

Nay, I tried it and gained back all the weight and then some. I've had better results with MFP, my daily calorie allowance is 1280. My 'golden' daily diet is eggs + greens + tea for breakfast, a green smoothie for lunch, and protein + veg + small serving of potato or rice for dinner. And not eating back my exercise…

Will you be starting your cycle soon? Eat a lot of sodium lately? Weigh yourself at a different time, or before you had a BM?

I've lost 12 lbs since Dec/14. Thirty pounds to go, at least. Losing 30 would put me at 153 lbs. I'm hoping to lose it by the summer, at which point I will re-evaluate my goals. I would LOVE to get to 135 lbs, but I don't know if that's a realistic goal or not.

I steam them for 20-22 minutes, then store them in the fridge. They never last long though, 2 days max. We get our eggs from the laying hens in our back yard, and this is the only way I've been able to 'hard-boil' them without craters when they are peeled. It's not so much a problem with store-bought eggs, because the ones…
-
Over easy, and served on a bed of sauteed kale or swiss chard. Or a steamed egg over a bed of arugula. (Steamed egg = hard boiled egg, but super easy to peel. Especially when using fresh eggs. 22 minutes to steam, and no craters when you peel!)

I'd rather eat less and lose more :) It's kind of like that saying "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels". And I'm pretty addicted to food, if I have more calories then I will probably use them on things like bagels and cereal, and that will just set me down the wrong path (it already has in the last week, with hubby…

LOL! Yes, I think I realized that today :) Good news is that I replaced the battery in my kitchen scale today, and apparently my meat and cheese weight estimates are way off (I was over estimating, bonus!), so I am going to try and log more accurately now. I think I will keep it at lightly active, and not log my exercise.…

I will try to move around more, and not try to 'meet' my calorie goals for the day, to see if that helps. I do want to lose 2 lbs a week if I can. I'm currently 185ish, and trying to get to 154ish by June or July. I appreciate all the advice :)
-
Yeah, that's why I chose lightly active :) I do move a lot, the 15 minutes was just an example of what I did today that I would actually log as exercise. It doesn't include running around the gym with my 3 year old, picking him up and swinging him around, I usually haul wood 2-3 times a week, 5 loads each time, chasing my…

Yes you're right, I did go over a few times. The day I went over by 1041 calories I was chasing after 4 kids all day, and we were out walking, sliding, building forts, walking through snow, up and down the stairs all day etc. So I don't think I actually went over at all that day. I was wiped by the end! The Saturday that I…

I like eating eggs over a bed of greens (arugula, or chard, or kale). So good, and very filling!

In our house we eat mostly local meat too. I saw mostly, because my hubby does occasionally eat bacon or chicken fingers from the store. We order a side of beef, a quarter of a pig, 2 turkeys, and about 5 chickens, and that feeds our family of 4 for a year. We also have laying hens. A couple months ago we slaughtered a…

I'm not sure how to add either, but I think I sent you a request?
-
Sent a friend request, we have similar goals! I am at 184 right now, looking to get to 154. Played WoW in the past, but I haven't played in a long time due to life, and it partially being the reason why I gained so much weight in the first place. I'm super active, and log daily, and also looking for a few more active…

That nutritionist? Why did she say that? Do you have any compelling medical reason for restricting your carbs? I've seen diabetics on here with higher carb percentages than that. The default micro ratio for carbs on MFP is usually set for 50%, you can lower it if you wish, but there's really no need to barring a doctor's…

I have a smoothie almost every day. Kale, berries, and sometimes yogurt, but usually water. Yesterday I mixed it up and tried it with a banana and peanut butter, kale, and protein powder. Protein powder is expensive too, so I try not to use it too often.
-
My carbs are 160, or more if I exercise. Looking at the MFP macro pie chart though, Im always at 50% or more of my diet being carbs. When I saw a nutrtitionist years ago she said I should only be at like 25% carbs which is why I'm trying to figure out where I need to make changes. I eat local meat a few times a week, and…
-
I find it hard. I really like your list, but nuts are too expensive, I don't eat processed foods, and while I do eat kale every day, one cup only has 2g of protein, so I'm still way under for my daily protein goal. Beans are great, but they put me way over for carbs. So for me it's all about finding that balance. Do I go…

I'm happy to read this!! Pretty much all my carbs come from vegetables, it's so frustrating. And i'm always over on my sugars too, usually from eating an apple. So annoying.
