  • Day 2 AF it’s a little win for me. One day at a time.
  • @MissMay Thank you for the shoutout, my friend. But you have really did amazing things keeping it going all these years. Your motivating, honest stories and words of encouragement have changed many lives. Miss May- you are simply the best! <3
  • No news to report. Not meeting my goals but I always read your comments. <3

Will continue to try or at least maintain. I have been enjoying this holiday weekend. Not reality monitoring what I'm eating, but skipping a big breakfast and eating a…
  • Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! <3 They say gratitude can change the way we think, especially when we write things down. I'm grateful for: My family, of course <3 My MFP friends who keep me motivated Cold rainy days that make you want to relax and watch movies Soup- I love any kinds of soup and so much more.
  • @globalhiker You are so right when you say you are still watching youtube to stay focused on your mission. Keeping your goals in front of you by listening to podcasts and reading articles helps so much. @renae149 It's so sweet you've been together for over 40 years. I'm sure he misses his drinking buddy (that's what my…
  • Good morning friends! Happy Thanksgiving to those in the USA. But I am very very grateful for all of you. I read your messages and take them to heart. I have not been sober BUT I have not been binging either, so that's a win. Last night, I had two glasses of wine during dinner and a movie. And then my brain said no…
  • Good morning, friends! Carole- thanks for the update!! I am happy that you didn't need stitches. And yes, battle scars make us who we are! Two years ago, I hosted a party. When the guests were leaving I twisted my ankle on the steps. It hurt so badly, I went to the ER the next day and I broke my leg. I couldn't help but…
  • 11/1/24 171.1 11/4 170.1 11/7 170.6 11/15 170.1 11/20 171.1 11/25 173 Ouch! I am climbing back up. We've eaten out a lot recently and I've added wine back to my evenings. That does not help at all! Back on track today. Since it's a holiday week, I work only two days, and I plan on walking a lot outside, working out, and…
  • Good morning friends. I woke up and said thank goodness I am not going to drink today. My face is so puffy and dry. All my "events" , dinners out, weekends away, are all over for awhile. I have no temptation. Plus I like feeling and sleeping well. Alcohol is a thief- takes away joy, peace and happiness. Luckily during…
  • Carole- thinking of you and honoring your brother. I'm so sorry for the gash on your head. <3
  • Side note: every time, I drink, I reset my clock (on an app). I keep thinking the app clock is going to start saying "Here you are again!! Resetting your clock." But instead the app always says relapse is normal/a part of the process. I like that the app doesn't make me feel badly. I already do that on my own.
  • @Walela617 I love that song!! I identify with it, too. Carole- You are doing the best you can. I am now drinking- pretty much daily. I am still checking in with this thread, but I am not sober. I think right now, this is the best I can do. I know I can do better. But for now, it is what it is. Y I truly feel this has…
  • @globalhiker That sounds like a wonderful trip!! Since it's far away still, I wouldn't worry too much. Just keep adding days to your calendar, one after another. Years ago, I went on a trip to Florida by myself and was sober. The whole week was delightful. Never had a headache, didn't obsessively plan my next drink, etc. I…
  • @MissMay Wonderful 46 days AF!! So happy for you!! <3
  • Hello, it's Carole, demonstrating how for some reason, I'm not only able to edit my own posts after an hour, I can also edit THIS post (not my own) TWO days later! November 23rd. Sorry! This is for example only. I will show one more example but will not touch anyone's posts after today! 💕(Just my own.) Agree. I can edit my…
  • @renae149 I keep checking "mychart" from the doctor's office to see if they've been ordered and I don't see any order placed. I may call them today and ask. Thank you for checking. I have now fallen off officially. I drank two nights since Saturday and I can see where this train is heading. I have a happy hour on Friday…
  • HW 206 lbs. Summer of 2023 11/1/24 171.1 11/4 170.1 11/7 170.6 11/15 170.1 11/20 171.1 I am stalled. I assume my body is saying, "I like it this way." So, I have not lost any weight these last few weeks. I just came back from yoga, and it was so wonderful. The lighting was low, candles lit, calming music, etc.
  • @renae149 Great choice! I like Perrier especially in a wine glass with a lemon slice. @Walela617 Great job! 4 days AF. Making progress! @globalhiker Awesome 2+ months. I have always heard of Smart Recovery but never checked it out. I think having some kind of program is very helpful.
  • Regarding family support: I asked my husband why he was happy that I drank with him the other week. He said it's just fun when he and I drink and go out. I said but I can still have fun without alcohol. However, I don't feel like going out to eat or to happy hour when I'm not drinking so he has a point. I tend to say,…
  • Keep on keeping going!! You are doing well!!
  • @globalhiker I like your comments about the brain and dis-regulation. I love reading about the brain. This is not about "willpower". It's about educating ourselves about the brain's wiring. I believe successful sober people have a network. Addiction can be isolating. This thread is our support network. Thanks for sharing…
  • Excellent!! You still had a great time!!
  • @globalhiker Congrats on 2.5 months. So happy for you. You are doing very well. :)
  • @Walela617 You did not let anyone down on this thread. I drank Thursday, Fri. and Saturday because I'm "celebrating" being away and in a nice hotel. My brain is wired to think drinking makes everything more fun. But my face looks ragged today and I feel lethargic. I knew better than to start back to drinking after my 47…
  • Hi friends, I may be quiet on this thread for awhile. I am drinking a little bit. (when I go out to dinner) I have not let it get out of control... yet! We shall see.
  • HW 206 (summer of 2023) 1/1/24 171.1 11/4 170.1 11/7 170.6 11/15 170.1 Making some progress BUT my body is not letting me get into the 160s. When I do get to 169, I'm going to do a dance. I have not been in the 160s in about 5 years. Positive moments this past week: Pilates class- such a great workout and stretch Went to…
