Friend request sent! I love motivated people who hold themselves responsible. I don't claim to have all the answers in regards to optimal macro settings as I think your fitness goals and personal preferences play an important role. I use an IIFYM model with more carbs than most people (because of all my running) but I…

I think this thread is motivating (ironic I know) the group of people who like excuses to post angry dogs pics and call me mean. Others seem to like the idea of MFP being used for more than finding a chearleader and learning how to count. I have received quite a few friend requests as the result of this thread.

Sorry you feel that way. I just prefer to focus on things that actually matter instead of holding hands, validating excuses and being a cheerleader. Not everyone thinks I am mean. I just received several more friend requests from self motivated fitness enthusiasts in the last few minutes!

Why be a quitter? Don't give up diet soda. Its awesome

H2O is delicious

I fast once in a while but am not on the 5:2 plan you describe. I think eating windows are largely a matter of personal preference. In the end all that matters is your average deficit/surplus over time (for your weight) and your macros and training program for fitness and body composition.

Happy New Year everyone! Any more self motivated people who would like to be friends? Lets have intellectual discussion on how to improve athletic performance.
-
Nothing wrong with this at all. There are many people on MFP who practice IF successfully

Thanks! I feel the same way and see beauty in all shapes and sizes. That is not me in the pic (although my body type is pretty similar). They are two of my runner role models. I actually think that society judges male (long distance) runners more harshly than female runners. For example many people find the Usain Bolt…

It does not both me that instead of racing a marathon for time many people these days have a goal to finish even it if means crawling across the finish line. Completing a marathon is a goal for many people and I am happy for all those that achieve it. My real concern is the lack of proper training before that 1st marathon.…

If I was in your situation I would eat another chicken burger and just exercise enough to compensate.

I hate this idea in a professional environment. It implies he lacks self discipline and needs the help of others to supervise his eating habits. Instead I suggest you just consume whatever treats you want and fit them into your macro targets or just be responsible enough to limit your intake.
-
I would probably record each exercise separately (boxing, running, etc).

I don't make excuses. Like everyone just I make mistakes. I try to learn from my mistakes and move forward. Weight has never been an issue for me. My focus has primary been on improving my race times although lately I have been more serious about tracking progress with my weight lifting and cross training as well.

Remember that the people you are complaining about help subsidize your gym membership (by paying but not showing up as often or for as long as you). Be happy!

I acknowledged that many people love this body type! Particularly in the US (and other Western countries where average BMI has been climbing for decades). My only point is that my friend can never hope to achieve it unless she is willing to sacrifice her performance as a runner. Sometimes we have to choose between…

Sorry if I made you chuckle, but I strongly disagree with several of your points: 1."This women will not keep that tiny waist and rather flat tummy with the habits you describe." I don't see a tiny waist or flat tummy in the pic I quoted. If you compare that pic to the body fat pics above I am guessing that woman would…

I have always had a healthy weight but losing a few more pounds (to lower end of healthy BMI range) should help my running performance. Of course calorie counting works. I keep my caloric deficit small (and combine strength training with my running program) in order to preserve as much muscle as possible as I complete my…

I agree!

Good advice. Maintaining proper running form is also much easier with a strong core. This is especially noticeable near the end of a long run when fatigued

Run outside and perform BW strength exercises at the park: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6ePL8OFb6M

I agree with this. I think everyone notices when they gain a lot of weight. Some people just prefer denial (which is easier when you don't count calories or weight yourself).
-
You all are very strong! I am impressed

A quality instructor will customize the class to people of all levels. If there is a beginner class available, take that first (to learn proper form for the basic movements) otherwise don't worry about it. Most classes will have several people in your same position

I have a friend who seems to like this body type as well. I told her is she wants to look like that she should stop all running, lifting, swimming and yoga. Then she should sit on the couch and eat as much ice cream as possible for 6 months. I think if she averaged a daily caloric surplus of about 500 for 6 months while…

So basically this was a studying involving casual runners. 7 minutes is a HUGE difference in completion time from the point of view of anyone fast enough to be seeking qualification for the Boston Marathon for example. There are many people who could walk an entire marathon in under 4 hours…

Thousands of people on here are in the same situation. Just choose a fitness goal and focus on that instead.

Made goal early this month. 306 miles on November so far

I am not loyal to any brand. I love racing flats for short races and a 0mm drop shoe with more cushioning for longer distances

3 days is no big deal. If it goes on longer see a doctor. My guess is that you are sick or stressed and just dont realize it
