I read your profile. Your post left out an important fact (you are insulin resistant). Good luck with your blood work and getting back down to a healthy weight. For most people I think sugar fear mongering is counter productive. There are thousands of people on this site in perfect health who lost weight while consuming…

^^^^ Perfect answer. Hypothyroidism wont stop you from reaching your goals. Only excuses and a lack of willpower can do that
-
Great work! Keep it up
-
Congratulations on your continued success! I am a little bit sad that you feel like you have to give up chicken wings and banana pudding to achieve your goals. #IIFYM
-
I agree with this. Of course as your fitness improves you may wish to add other forms of exercise as well
-
I don't see how the feelings of others at any give weight should influence how you feel.

Depending on how much pizza, bagels and tootsie rolls (free) OP can consume $10 a month could be a very good value.
-
Exercise a LOT then you can eat whatever you want. I lost weight and reached my goal weight of 123 pounds while consuming 2500 calories a day on average. Now I maintain at 2600 calories a day. FYI I ran over 300 miles a month (plus lifting, yoga, etc) in Nov & Dec. I never would be able to exercise so much if I was not…

Be honest, you just want to find people to donate money for this Avon event right? http://www.avon39.org/washington-dc/ You might not be giving yourself enough credit. My grandfather did a charity walk longer than that last year with zero training and he is twice your age. You may be in good enough shape already! If I am…

Unless you are diabetic don't worry about sugar. It is a great source of energy.

+ 1 to layers and no cotton. Its fine to experiment with how many layers are appropriate for you. Its better to be too cool than too warm (in general). For really windy days you may prefer a neoprene face mask over a hat Your shoes are much more important that anything else. I would rather run in a pair of jeans (bad idea)…

What is confusing about it? I want to lose my own baby weight (7 pounds total with 5 pounds lost so far) since I have yet to have any children. Losing baby weight need not be a club exclusive to mothers. Anyone can have that goal. Men are welcome as well. I want to lose by baby weight x 1. Others have stated they have…

Thanks! This is what I try to do but depending on the day I don't always have enough sunlight in the morning to complete my run before class. Maybe running in the dark before sunrise would be better than lifting right after a hard run in the afternoon. Sometimes because of my mileage (300 miles in Nov and Dec) I end up…

I am glad you found a system that works for you! I love pizza too but am not a huge fan of it once reheated. I generally will eat a lot of it but my exercise levels tend to compensate
-
I dont mind busy gyms because: 1. It wont last 2. New members who keep paying but stop coming subsidize membership costs for everyone else 3. Some of them will stick with it and I love to see new people begin healthy lifestyles! I say help out a new member. If the equipment you need is not always available during peak…

Your caloric deficit is all that matters for weight loss. Exercise will help you improve your physical fitness regardless of weight.
-
Any updates for us LadyJ? I hope you found a way to manage your diabetes and achieve your weight loss goal!
-
How did that 10k go? What race are you training for now?
-
Nobody in the USA should ever complain about food prices. We are spoiled here. In fact I wish prices on certain things were much higher (because we should be cancelling certain food subsidies which keep prices artificially low).
-
You sound like a great mom! I bet your kids will never yell such cruel things out of a car window.
-
Either say "no thank you" or eat the food and adjust your other consumption (while not visiting) to compensate. You are responsible for hitting your calorie and macro targets. Cross out "sabotage" in your dictionary and replace it with "excuse"

I am fairly new to strength training as well (using a slightly modified version of Stronglifts). I run a lot of miles and sometimes feel like I need to schedule my deadlift days before an easier run. 20+ mile runs or speedwork are not easy for me after certain strength sessions!

I think this makes sense. Trend lines can be helpful even if the individual measurements are of questionable accuracy
-
lol Someone is going around and flagging all my old posts. All I did is this OP was post a link to an article, compliment her resume and ask a question. How is that worthy of a flag?
-
I like Tough Mudder but only if you can sign up for a very early heat to avoid any lines at certain obstacles and actually race (against yourself, as I know TM is not timed).
-
Oh no! I hope you find the van and your missing baby weight again soon!
-
Nothing wrong multiple babies! We all have the same goal of losing weight
-
I think that would match better with someone trying to gain baby weight. I am trying to lose baby weight.
-
I just noticed my OP in this thread received a "flag". Did I do something wrong? As an update to my original post, I have now lost over 5 pounds. As much weight as some premature babies perhaps but not yet the full 7 pounds of baby weight I hope to lose.

I agree with your second paragraph. That looks like a great group to me led by several very knowledgeable people. I am blunt but not self important. I try to speak the truth even if it hurts. I would hope people would treat me the same. I value honestly more then nicety.
