  • It's a stupid term. If something has calories it provides energy so therefore is not empty.
  • Sugar actually messes with theBrain Kemicals which are like chemicals but put there by space Aliens who wish to control us so they use Kemicals which have little radio transmitters in . The only way to defend against this is a sugar detox or a Tin foil hat.
  • That is just nonsense. Walking is a great exercise and yes you can raise your HR while walking as there;s these big bumps called hills
  • To me it seems like another label that is as pointless as many others and a way to avoid looking at the big picture and health as a whole. I've seen people obsess over getting the last gram of protein to hit there macros under the delusion that they have to hit these goals. In reality I probably eat this way as I keep an…
  • The way GPS works in such a small area it's accuracy will be suspect as the way it samples on the switchbacks could introduce errors. I think you may be better using a step counter of other method to measure the set distance then work out how many laps you'd need for your required distance
  • Couldn't tell you the exact figure but running will use more calories because the biomechanics are different
  • It will be a very personal thing so you will just need to experiment
  • MFP is not an accurate way to monitor iron. Most food entries do not contain iron because they are user entered and food packaging in most countries it is not a legal requirement to put it on food labels. If you are concerned go see your doctor and get bloods done. As for Protein it's pretty easy beans, tofu,…
  • @thankyou4thevenom Actually a calories is how much energy it takes to raise the temperature of 1 g (not 1kg) of water by 1 degree C. Other than that you're agreeing with what you've quoted That's what I love about MFP when people vehemently disagree with a post by agreeing with it ;)
  • As sugar is a carb that's a pretty meaningless change
  • If you've stopped losing weight you are no longer in a calorie deficit. As you lose weight the calorie deficit becomes smaller so any errors in logging will become more pronounced. Check your logging weigh all solids measure all liquids and check you are using accurate entries from the database. A cleanse is pointless and…
  • There probably is some minor change in micronutrients but it will be so small to be insignificant.
  • Generally a HRM such as a polar FT7 is only good for steady state cardio they are not designed to wear all day. As you want to record your daily activity and do kickboxing an activity monitor such as a Fitbit, Microsoft band, Jawbone etc would be more appropriate. Some of these do monitor HR as well.
  • @Glossberg It all adds up just before you know it you'll amaze yourself.
  • Please show us the studies
  • Loose skin has a lot to do with Genetics. I've lost 130 pounds (I still have 20 or so to go). If you get loose skin you do but it's better than all the possible health complications of being Obese. 2 years down the line I never have had huge amounts of loose skin (which I'm lucky) but recently what little I have has…
  • So because it doesn't work for you we should just throw it out? What an interesting concept. BMI was only designed as a guide to be used in conjunction with other methods as a quick way of assessing people with limited equipment. So no it's not 'Crap'if used appropriately I could argue the BF is crap because the majority…
  • Just some images from this weekends trails for you. Thanks for the comments on my mileage @shanaber @JimCrackinDandy . I must admit I'm looking forward to August when I can pull it back a bit and do a bit more Hiking and running shorter distances with my Trail Hound.

  • Speak to a Dietitian
  • Actually no. They are flash frozen water is not added to freeze them any water will be what was already in the veggies. Frozen water weighs the same as thawed water
  • ^^^^ THIS, I have seen many people undo their work with 'Cheat days'. I do sometimes have days I don't log or go over but these aren't cheat days they're just life. The problem I see with cheat days with some people is they go all out. There are foods that they will only eat on those days.
  • @WhatMeRunning I have a 50 in July so I'm all about volume and running on tired legs at the moment
  • Not all margarine uses hydrogenated vegetable oils. It used to be the case 20 years ago but since information on trans fats many major brands have gone away from hydrogenated oils and there are many smaller brands that have never used them. So to say all margarine has trans fats is just wrong.
  • 01/5 - Recovery 02/5 - 15.1 miles Trail 03/5 - 8.1 miles Trail 04/5 - Recovery 05/5 - 10.6 miles Trail 06/5 - 12.1 Miles Trail (split into 2 runs) 07/5 - 10.3 Road 08/5 - Recovery 09/5 - 17.3 Trail 10/5 - Swapped a recovery day due to twinge in calf 11/5 - 10.8 miles -2 runs one trail and one on the road 12/5 - 8.2 miles…
  • There is no such thing. If you have functioning Kidneys. Liver, Bowel and skin go to the toilet and are not addicted to drugs or alcohol your body is perfectly capable of detoxing itself
  • Where did you hear it?
  • Carbs are not the enemy. Yes if they add an undue amount of calories they may be an issue, but as part of a balanced varied diet they shouldn't be an issue. You're better off looking for balance rather than demonising one food group. You need a calorie deficit to lose weight that's it in reality. Have a look at the…
  • Just to say a Polar HRM will not be accurate t25. They are only designed to record steady state cardio so that figure is likely to be more innacurate
  • In my opinion that's a lot more Protein than you really need. I'm a Vegan I normally hit around 100g with little problem I do use a Protein powder but more for convenience than need. You may find this link useful from No meat athlete http://www.nomeatathlete.com/vegetarian-protein-primer/
